Job description

About the role

You own the technical quality of every system Sunstar designs, installs, and maintains. This is hands‑on leadership: set the standards, mentor the team, solve the problems nobody else can, and keep us current on new solar and storage technology.

Key responsibilities
  • Review and approve system designs, string sizing, cable and protection calculations, and mounting details before release to site.
  • Ensure compliance with the Philippine Electrical Code, NSCP, ERC net‑metering rules, and distribution utility interconnection requirements.
  • Set and maintain Sunstar's installation, testing, and documentation standards.
  • Supervise and review the work of project engineers across concurrent projects; lead site kick‑offs and quality inspections.
  • Run the internal training program — toolbox talks, new‑product briefings, commissioning and safety refreshers.
  • Act as final escalation point for underperformance, ground and arc faults, inverter issues, monitoring dropouts, and structural or waterproofing problems.
  • Evaluate and qualify new equipment (modules, inverters, batteries, mounting, export‑control devices) and recommend what we standardize on.
  • Support Business Development on technically complex proposals and client or consultant queries.
About you
  • BS Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • PRC‑licensed Registered Electrical Engineer (REE); PEE a strong advantage.
  • 5+ years in solar PV, including 2+ years supervising engineers or installation crews.
  • Proven delivery of commercial and industrial rooftop and/or ground‑mount systems from design to commissioning.
  • Working knowledge of net‑metering, utility interconnection, and LGU permitting.
  • AutoCAD plus one PV design tool (PVsyst, Helioscope, Aurora, or similar).
  • Able to work at height and travel to sites nationwide.
