Job description

Lumysi is a US-based wearable technology startup developing a jewelry-inspired health and fitness bracelet.

Our screenless wearable continuously tracks health, activity, sleep, recovery, and women’s health metrics while maintaining the appearance and comfort of a premium accessory.

The product combines embedded electronics, biometric sensors, Bluetooth connectivity, mechanical components, interchangeable straps, and a mobile application that transforms health data into personalized insights.

We are preparing the Lumysi wearable for scalable manufacturing and are looking for an experienced Hardware & Manufacturing Engineer to lead product validation, supplier coordination, hardware debugging, and new-product introduction activities.

The Role

As a Hardware & Manufacturing Engineer, you will help take Lumysi from advanced prototypes through engineering validation, pilot production, and mass manufacturing.

This is not a firmware development position. Your primary focus will be electronic hardware, validation, manufacturing readiness, supplier coordination, production testing, quality, and issue resolution.

You will work directly with PCB manufacturers, component suppliers, assembly partners, testing laboratories, industrial designers, and contract manufacturers.

The role requires hands-on technical work and direct involvement during prototype and production builds. You must be willing and able to travel internationally to supplier and contract-manufacturer facilities when required.

The ideal candidate has previously helped bring a connected electronic product from prototype into mass production and understands the technical and operational discipline required during EVT, DVT, PVT, pilot builds, and production ramp-up.

Responsabilities
  • Review electronic schematics, PCB designs, bills of materials, component specifications, and technical datasheets.
  • Support PCB bring-up, prototype assembly, and hardware debugging.
  • Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, sensor, battery, charging, connectivity, and integration issues.
  • Develop and execute hardware validation plans.
  • Coordinate EVT, DVT, PVT, pilot production, and mass-production activities.
  • Define test procedures, acceptance criteria, and validation requirements.
  • Support design-for-manufacturing, design-for-assembly, and design-for-test reviews.
  • Coordinate technical activities with component suppliers, PCB manufacturers, assembly partners, and contract manufacturers.
  • Investigate production failures, yield issues, component substitutions, and device-performance deviations.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for hardware and manufacturing issues.
  • Review supplier reports, test results, engineering change requests, and production documentation.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, including bills of materials, approved vendor lists, specifications, test plans, and change records.
  • Define and review production test fixtures, functional tests, calibration processes, and quality-control procedures.
  • Support component selection, alternate-source qualification, and supply-chain risk evaluation.
  • Collaborate with firmware, industrial design, mechanical engineering, quality, and operations teams.
  • Support reliability, environmental, battery, charging, waterproofing, and product-lifecycle testing.
  • Travel to supplier and contract-manufacturer facilities to support builds, inspections, validation, and production ramp-up.
Requirements
  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in electronic hardware, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, or NPI.
  • Ability to read and review electronic schematics, PCB documentation, component datasheets, and bills of materials.
  • Hands-on experience debugging electronic hardware using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds and production launches.
  • Practical experience with EVT, DVT, PVT, pilot production, or mass-production ramp-up.
  • Previous experience working directly with hardware suppliers, PCB manufacturers, EMS providers, ODMs, OEMs, or contract manufacturers.
  • Understanding of DFM, DFA, DFT, production testing, yield, and quality-control processes.
  • Experience performing root-cause analysis and resolving manufacturing or field failures.
  • Strong technical documentation and supplier-communication skills.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
  • Availability and willingness to travel internationally.
  • Ability to manage multiple suppliers and technical priorities in a fast-moving startup environment.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with wearables, consumer electronics, IoT, medical technology, or battery-powered products.
  • Experience with compact, high-density PCB assemblies.
  • Familiarity with Bluetooth-enabled products and embedded systems.
  • Experience with PPG, IMU, temperature, biometric, or optical sensors.
  • Experience with lithium-polymer batteries, charging circuits, power management, and battery validation.
  • Knowledge of waterproofing, sealing, adhesives, coatings, and compact-product assembly.
  • Experience with reliability testing, environmental testing, and product qualification.
  • Familiarity with CE, FCC, Bluetooth, RoHS, REACH, or other regulatory and certification processes.
  • Experience working with manufacturers in China or other international manufacturing regions.
  • Experience developing production test fixtures or automated test procedures.
  • Experience managing engineering changes and maintaining configuration control.
What We Offer
  • The opportunity to bring an international wearable technology product into mass production.
  • Significant ownership over hardware validation, manufacturing readiness, and production execution.
  • Direct collaboration with the founders, engineering team, and manufacturing partners.
  • Exposure to the complete product-development cycle, from advanced prototypes to production scale.
  • International travel and direct involvement with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • The opportunity to establish the systems, standards, and processes that will define Lumysi’s hardware operations.
