Job Description
The Global Supply Chain Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring international supply chain activities to ensure the timely and efficient movement of materials and products from suppliers through final delivery. This position serves as a key point of communication between global suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses, and internal departments.
The Global Supply Chain Coordinator will issue and monitor purchase orders, monitor production schedules, international shipments, inventory availability, and delivery commitments while proactively identifying and resolving supply chain disruptions. The role also supports import/export documentation, customs clearance, supply chain reporting, data accuracy, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Global Order & Supplier Coordination
- Coordinate international purchase orders from order placement through final delivery.
- Monitor supplier production schedules, order readiness, lead times, and delivery commitments.
- Communicate regularly with global suppliers regarding order status, quantities, pricing, documentation, and potential delays.
- Maintain accurate purchase order dates and supplier information within the ERP system.
- Identify supplier-related risks and elevate issues that may affect inventory availability, production, or customer requirements.
International Logistics & Shipment Management
- Coordinate international ocean, air, truck, and courier shipments with freight forwarders and logistics providers.
- Monitor shipments from origin through final delivery and maintain accurate estimated arrival dates.
- Proactively identify and resolve shipment delays, missed connections, customs holds, and other transportation issues.
- Coordinate expedited transportation when necessary to minimize supply disruptions.
- Provide timely shipment status updates to internal stakeholders.
- Support efforts to optimize transportation costs, transit times, and logistics performance.
Import/Export Documentation & Customs Support
- Review and approve international shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and related documents.
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, suppliers, and internal teams to support timely customs clearance.
- Assist with resolving documentation discrepancies and customs clearance issues.
- Support compliance with applicable import, export, customs, and international shipping requirements.
- Maintain organized documentation and records for operational, compliance, and audit purposes.
Inventory & Supply Planning Support
- Monitor inbound inventory, open purchase orders and backorders.
- Identify potential inventory shortages and communicate supply risks to appropriate stakeholders.
- Assist with prioritizing shipments based on inventory requirements, customer demand, and operational needs.
- Analyze demand data and update min/max inventory levels on a quarterly basis
ERP, Data & Reporting
- Maintain accurate purchase order, shipment, supplier, inventory, and delivery information within company systems.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies involving quantities, receipts, invoices, freight charges, or shipment information.
- Prepare regular reports covering open orders, inbound shipments, shortages, delays, and supply chain risks.
- Monitor key supply chain performance indicators such as on-time delivery, supplier lead time, freight cost, shipment accuracy, and inventory availability.
Issue Resolution & Continuous Improvement
- Proactively investigate supply chain disruptions and coordinate corrective actions.
- Identify recurring supplier, transportation, documentation, and process issues.
- Support initiatives designed to reduce freight costs, improve lead times, increase data accuracy, and improve supply chain reliability.
- Assist with new supplier, product, transportation lane, and market launches.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, logistics providers, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide cross-functional supply chain support and backup coverage as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
Qualifications
- Previous experience in supply chain, logistics, purchasing, import/export, or international transportation required.
- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, International Business, or a related field preferred.
- Understanding of international shipping processes and transportation modes, including ocean and air freight.
- Familiarity with import/export documentation and customs clearance processes.
- Experience working with ERP, purchasing, inventory, or supply chain management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple orders, shipments, and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross‑functional teams across different countries and time zones.
