Job summary

Optum Philippines is seeking a seasoned Director of Software Engineering to lead multiple global engineering teams delivering scalable healthcare software solutions. You will own end-to-end delivery, set roadmaps, and drive AI-enabled initiatives in a fast-paced, distributed environment.

As a strategic technology leader, you will partner with Product, Operations, and executives to align engineering efforts with business goals, while fostering an inclusive culture and emphasis on delivery

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
6+ years of leadership experience managing software engineering organizations at Manager or Director level.
5+ years of experience delivering enterprise technology products in large-scale production environments.
5+ years of experience partnering with Product leadership to successfully deliver strategic initiatives.
3+ years of experience presenting to and managing executive stakeholders.
3+ years of experience leading or delivering AI-related technology initiatives.
Solid experience leading globally distributed engineering teams.
Experience managing multiple technical assets, programs, or product portfolios.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee multiple software engineering teams responsible for delivering enterprise-scale products and platforms.
Own end-to-end software delivery across multiple technical assets, services, and initiatives.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business priorities.
Establish engineering roadmaps, delivery plans, and operational strategies that support organizational goals.
Balance innovation, delivery throughput, platform stability, and operational excellence.
Adapt priorities and execution plans to address business, technical, and operational challenges.
Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise across software engineering, system design, delivery methodologies, and modern engineering practices.
Drive engineering excellence through architecture reviews, development standards, governance, and quality practices.
Introduce innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
Recommend and implement improvements that increase scalability, efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and software engineering best practices.
Lead and scale AI-driven software engineering initiatives across the organization.
Drive adoption of artificial intelligence, machine learning, intelligent automation, and data-driven engineering solutions.
Identify opportunities to leverage AI technologies to improve operational efficiency, product capabilities, and engineering productivity.
Ensure AI initiatives align with strategic business objectives and deliver measurable outcomes.
Design, implement, and monitor engineering operational metrics and performance indicators.
Establish accountability around reliability, availability, quality, security, and delivery performance.
Lead root cause analysis efforts for critical incidents and develop sustainable corrective actions.
Drive continuous improvement programs and foster a data-driven decision‑making culture.
Clearly communicate operational risks, issues, and business impacts to executive stakeholders.
Build, lead, and develop high‑performing engineering teams.
Recruit, coach, mentor, and retain top engineering talent.
Develop future leaders and succession plans within the organization.
Provide clear direction, performance management, and career development opportunities.
Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high‑accountability culture.
Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Business leaders.
Influence executive stakeholders and communicate strategic technology direction.
Align engineering initiatives to business objectives and customer outcomes.
Lead cross‑functional collaboration across global and geographically dispersed teams.
