Responsibilities

  • Identify and trace faulty equipment; inspect, repair and assess status.
  • Prepare jobs and test equipment prior to mobilisation.
  • Mobilise equipment and ensure proper setup on site.
  • Calibrate, install, operate and maintain field survey gear.
  • Plan geophysical data acquisition per scope and schedule.
  • Prepare survey procedures and QA for data collection.
  • Conduct pre-mob checks of survey systems and data logging.
  • Coordinate deployment and interface with crew; produce daily reports.

Job Purpose:

The Engineer is one of the members of a survey team and is responsible for conducting the technical job like calibrations and mobilization of equipment on the vessel or job site. The engineer is also responsible to maintain the smooth functioning of all the equipment and troubleshooting. He is also responsible for making the daily report and a complete submission of the report after the completion of the job. To work on the field when deputed and to co-ordinate with all the crew members to prepare daily reports and to execute the project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for identification and traceability of incoming faulty equipment, carrying out inspection, repair and identifying equipment status.
  • Responsible for Job preparation and testing of equipment prior to mobilisation.
  • Responsible for mobilisation of equipment
  • Responsible for calibration, installation, operation and maintenance of equipment deployed in the field.
  • Survey Planning - To plan for geophysical data acquisition as per scope, specification and schedule for survey.
  • Survey Quality Assurance - To prepare the survey procedure with appropriate work Instruction for geophysical data acquisition.
  • Pre-Mob checks - To check all geophysical survey equipment and GLOG / GPLOT data logging and Interpretation systems in FSINPVT workshop, prior to mobilisation on the survey vessel / site.
  • Mobilisation - To actively participate in installation, interfacing, setting to work and configuration of all survey equipment and systems, and undertake their calibration / verification on the field.
  • Deployment of Survey Equipment: To acquire adequate knowledge and skills in effective deployment of geophysical Survey equipment, Systems and data interpretation techniques, for meeting the objectives of the Survey work.
  • Online Quality Control of the Geophysical Data Acquired: - Ensure the quality and adequacy of the data acquired to enable further interpretation and Reporting, and finally meeting the objectives of the survey work. Order re-runs if data quality is not adequate.
  • Data Back ups / Archival :To ensure geophysical data is acquired as per approved survey procedures and duly annotate, backup and archive the same regularly in the field.
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe working environment at site. Actively participate in Operations, Quality Assurance and HSE group meetings.
  • Any other work as assigned by the Company.
Qualifications required:

B.E./B.Tech. in Engineering or equivalent

Skills/experience required to do the job:

  • Experience in offshore surveys.
  • 3+ years
  • Must have skills: Single beam survey equipment, Multi beam survey equipment, Bathymetric Survey equipment, Geophysical survey equipment (Side Scan Sonar, Sub Bottom Profilers), Magnetometer. Calibration and verification of survey sensors.
  • Good-to-have skills: Knowledge on UHR, survey navigation, and data logging software; deepwater surveys.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment and software in use.
  • High degree of technical reporting skills in English language

  • Prevent damage of equipment and assets
  • Responsible for following all safety signs/procedures/ safe working practices
  • Responsible for using appropriate PPE’s
  • Responsible for participating in mock drills.
  • Entitled to refuse any to undertake any activity considered unsafe.
  • Responsible for filling up of hazard observation card, wherever hazard has been noticed at site.
  • Responsible for safe housekeeping of his work place.
  • To stop any operation that is deemed unsafe
  • To be able to operate fire extinguisher in case of fire
  • To report an incident as soon as possible to immediate supervisor and HSE manager
  • To complete HSE trainings as instructed to do so.
