Job summary

BW Water is seeking a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) CAD Engineer to develop and manage mechanical and plant drawings using AutoCAD Plant 3D for FEED, bidding, and project phases. You will ensure compliance with QMS and quality standards and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate design outputs.

The role involves template maintenance, project coordination, and providing plant 3D support, with travel to site as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years direct AutoCAD Plant 3D administration and catalogue development.
• Strong process engineering understanding, water and wastewater applications.
• Excellent technical drawing skills and ability to customize components.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience with BIM collaboration platforms (BIM360 or similar) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer, develop, and maintain all related engineering drawing templates.
• Follow all Group quality directives and suggest improvements where relevant.
• Prepare mechanical design drawings during basic and detailed engineering.
• Develop drawings with AutoCAD Plant 3D for P&ID, GA, isometrics, fabrication drawings, and installation drawings.
• Create and manage catalogues for equipment, valves, instruments, and other components in AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and efficient use of AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Train and support new Plant 3D users, including creating SOPs for their reference.
• Stay updated with the latest AutoCAD Plant 3D features, tools, and best practices.

We’re looking for a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) CAD Engineer to develop and manage mechanical and plant design drawings using AutoCAD Plant 3D for FEED, bidding, and project phases. The role ensures compliance with QMS and Group quality standards, maintains drawing templates, catalogs, and engineering lists, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate and efficient design outputs.

Responsibilities

• Administer, develop, and maintain all related engineering drawing templates.
• Follow all Group quality directives and suggest improvements where relevant.
• Ensure project scope is kept within the Group as much as possible.
• Ensure all tasks comply with QMS system requirements.
• Assist with detailed drawing work during bidding and project phases.
• Prepare mechanical design drawings during basic and detailed engineering.
• Develop drawings with AutoCAD Plant 3D for P&ID, schematic diagrams, GA drawings, isometric drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, installation drawings, manuals, and hydraulic profile drawings.
• Generate Preliminary Plant Layout Design using Revit 3D modeling and space planning to ensure optimal workflow, maintenance and adherence to safety clearance requirements.
• Set up and maintain the AutoCAD Plant 3D project manager environment.
• Create and manage catalogues for equipment, valves, instruments, and other components in AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Develop and maintain project-specific specifications in AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Generate and manage engineering lists such as equipment lists, valve lists, instrument lists, and line lists.
• Customize components in AutoCAD Plant 3D to meet project needs.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and efficient use of AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Train and support new Plant 3D users, including creating SOPs for their reference.
• Stay updated with the latest AutoCAD Plant 3D features, tools, and best practices.
• Collaborate with various design and engineering disciplines, teams, and/or external counterparts via agreed platforms such as BIM360, or equivalent.
• Attend client meetings as required by project location.
• Conduct site surveys to gather required information and/or verify existing or new plant documentation.
• Maintain a good filing system for electronic and hard copy documents for easy retrieval.
• Liaise with process engineering, fabrication, and project departments to achieve competitive and precise design and costing.
• Maintain effective communication with all relevant internal and external disciplines.
• Continue the improvement plan for basic and detailed engineering work.
• Able to travel and stay short-term on project sites when needed.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years direct experience in AutoCAD Plant 3D Administration and catalogue development.
• Strong Process engineering understanding, specifically water and wastewater applications.
• Extensive knowledge, experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, Inventor, Naviswork and application to plant and process engineering.
• Strong orientation to plant and process design principles and industry standards; strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent technical drawing skills and ability to customize components and develop standard procedures.
• Strong communication, collaboration, project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other platforms such as Revit, Navisworks, Advance Steel, Inventor is an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, creative, and visualization skills.
• Able to handle multiple projects and deadlines; perform independently in support of project teams.
• Good exposure to the water and wastewater treatment industry.
• Knowledge on latest AutoCAD Plant 3D features and system requirements.
