Job summary

Promet Source seeks an Independent PDF Accessibility Specialist to advise clients on accessibility best practices and remediate PDFs to WCAG, Section 508, and PDF/UA standards. Remote freelance role with flexible 5–20 hours per week, Philippines time zone preferred.

You will work with Acrobat Pro, AEM Designer, and automated tools to ensure documents are accessible for assistive technologies, audit progress, and stay updated on accessibility guidelines.

Qualifications

• Proven experience remediating PDFs for accessibility compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA and Section 508.
• Familiarity with screen reader testing and assistive technology.
• Experience with tagging, reading order, alt text, headings and forms.

Responsibilities

• Remediate PDFs for accessibility, including tagging, reading order, alt text, headings, tables, forms, and bookmarks.
• Test documents using screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver) and automated tools.
• Convert scanned PDFs into accessible, searchable documents using OCR.
• Review source files (Word, InDesign, PowerPoint) for upstream fixes.
• Conduct accessibility audits and produce VPAT/ACR documentation.
• Track remediation tasks across a backlog and meet deadlines.
• Stay current on WCAG 2.1/2.2, Section 508, ADA, and PDF/UA requirements.
