JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Foreman – Solar Projects
Office: Project Management / Project Delivery & Engineering
Reports to: Project Engineer / Project Manager

I. Job Summary

The Foreman – Solar Projects is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of site personnel engaged in the installation, construction, testing, and completion of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects.

The role ensures that site activities are carried out according to approved plans, technical specifications, project schedules, quality standards, and established safety requirements. The Foreman serves as the primary field-level supervisor of solar installers, electricians, helpers, and other assigned site personnel and coordinates closely with the Project Engineer or Project Manager regarding work progress, manpower requirements, site concerns, and project deliverables.

II. General Responsibilities

A. Site Execution and Supervision

1. Supervise the daily activities of solar installers, electricians, helpers, and other assigned project personnel.

2. Implement daily work plans based on instructions and priorities provided by the Project Engineer or Project Manager.

3. Assign manpower according to project activities and monitor productivity and work completion.

4. Ensure installation activities comply with approved drawings, plans, method statements, technical specifications, and project requirements.

5. Supervise installation activities including, but not limited to:

   • Mounting structures and supports

   • Solar PV modules

   • DC cabling and cable management

   • Inverters and related equipment

   • AC electrical connections

   • Grounding and bonding systems

   • Electrical panels and associated components

6. Verify the availability of manpower, materials, tools, and equipment required for scheduled work.

7. Immediately report site constraints, material shortages, technical concerns, delays, and other issues that may affect project completion.

8. Coordinate activities with other contractors, subcontractors, building representatives, and site personnel as required.

9. Maintain proper housekeeping and organization within assigned work areas.

B. Quality Control

1. Inspect completed work and ensure workmanship meets MSpectrum standards, approved plans, and applicable technical requirements.

2. Identify installation deficiencies, punch-list items, and workmanship issues and ensure timely correction.

3. Prevent unauthorized deviation from approved designs or installation procedures.

4. Assist the Project Engineer in conducting inspections, testing, punch listing, and project turnover activities.

5. Ensure proper handling, storage, and installation of solar modules, electrical equipment, materials, and tools to prevent damage.

C. Safety Management

1. Enforce compliance with MSpectrum's occupational safety and health policies and project-specific safety requirements.

2. Ensure workers use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

3. Participate in and support toolbox meetings, safety orientations, and job hazard assessments.

4. Identify unsafe conditions and work practices and immediately implement or elevate corrective actions.

5. Coordinate with the Safety Officer regarding site safety concerns, incidents, and required preventive measures.

6. Stop work when an activity presents an immediate danger to personnel, equipment, property, or the project site.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities

1. Provide direct supervision, guidance, and work instructions to solar installers, electricians, helpers, and other assigned personnel.

2. Monitor attendance, manpower deployment, productivity, and quality of work.

3. Promote discipline, teamwork, proper work practices, and efficient use of materials and equipment.

4. Provide feedback to the Project Engineer or Project Manager regarding worker performance and manpower concerns.

5. Assist in orienting newly deployed workers on project requirements, work methods, safety standards, and site rules.

6. Ensure daily targets and assigned activities are clearly communicated to the project crew.

IV. Documentation and Reporting

1. Provide daily updates on work accomplishments, manpower deployment, site conditions, and outstanding activities.

2. Assist in maintaining records of materials issued and consumed at the project site.

3. Report damaged materials, defective equipment, accidents, incidents, and other site irregularities.

4. Assist the Project Engineer in preparing accomplishment reports, progress documentation, inspection records, and punch lists.

5. Maintain appropriate records and documentation required for site monitoring and project turnover.

V. Technical Competencies

• Knowledge of solar PV installation methods and basic system components

• Understanding of electrical installation practices and construction drawings

• Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, single-line diagrams, layout drawings, and installation details

• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment, and construction equipment

• Basic knowledge of electrical safety, grounding, cable management, and equipment installation

• Knowledge of occupational safety and health practices applicable to construction and electrical work

• Manpower supervision and work scheduling

• Basic materials and inventory monitoring

• Site coordination and problem solving

VI. Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of a technical or vocational course related to Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Construction, or a related field.

• High school graduates with substantial and directly relevant solar, electrical, or construction experience may also be considered.

Certification / License

• TESDA certification in Electrical Installation and Maintenance or a related technical qualification is preferred.

• Registered Master Electrician (RME) license is an advantage but not required, unless required for a specific project assignment.

• Relevant safety training or certifications are an advantage.

Work Experience

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in electrical, solar PV, construction, or similar field installation work.

• At least 1 year of experience leading or supervising field personnel or construction crews is preferred.

• Previous experience in rooftop, commercial, industrial, or utility-scale solar PV projects is highly preferred.

Other Requirements

• Willing to work primarily at project sites and travel or be deployed to different project locations as required.

• Physically capable of performing and supervising field construction activities.

• Comfortable working at heights and in outdoor environments, subject to applicable medical and safety requirements.

• Able to communicate effectively with workers, engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders.

• Demonstrates leadership, accountability, discipline, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
