Job summary

Advanced Energy is seeking a Firmware Engineer II to design, develop, and validate embedded firmware for advanced power conversion systems within our Medical Design Group. You will work on cross-functional teams to balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost from concept through production release using simulation, prototyping, testing, and design verification methodologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of embedded firmware development experience.
• Experience programming in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience with version control tools such as Bitbucket, Git or similar.
• Experience developing firmware for microcontroller- or DSP-based systems.
• Experience debugging embedded systems using laboratory test equipment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Works as part of a cross-functional team including Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, and Systems Engineering.
• Owns firmware development activities from concept through production release including architecture, coding, testing, documentation, and design verification.
• Design and develop embedded firmware for digital power conversion products using 16-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers and digital signal controllers.
• Implement and optimize control algorithms for AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion systems.
• Perform software design reviews, code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and debugging activities.
• Support product verification and validation activities.
• Participate in risk management activities including software FMEA, hazard analysis, and engineering change management.
• Create and maintain software documentation, requirements traceability, test protocols, and design records.
• Support manufacturing transfer, regulatory compliance, and sustaining engineering activities.
