Job summary

Advanced Energy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II for its Medical Design Group to design and develop mechanical systems that balance performance, reliability, and cost, including enclosures, heatsinks, cable assemblies, and molded parts.

You will use thermal, acoustic, and vibration simulations, plus 3D board layouts and hands-on prototyping, to transform concepts into robust products that meet customer needs and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of product development with electromechanical systems, medical devices, or electronic products.
• Proficient CAD skills with SolidWorks or Creo.
• Knowledge of Sheet Metal design is a plus.
• Experience with thermal and structural FEA tools preferred.
• Strong understanding of DFM/DFA, GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and design controls.

Responsibilities

• Owns mechanical design from concept through production release, including analysis, testing, documentation, and verification of enclosures, bus bars, heat sinks, and other cooling mechanisms.
• Creates models/drawings to GD&T standards and performs complex tolerance analyses.
• Specifies experiments and procedures to prove, test, and monitor design concepts.
• Designs for manufacturing and assembly; aims to minimize complexity and optimize manufacturability and testability.
• Develops products and subcomponents using sheet metal, machined parts, casting, molding, extrusion, stamping, and 3D printing methods.
• Collaborates with Electrical, Firmware, Manufacturing and Quality Engineers to meet specifications and schedules.
