Job summary

XP Power is seeking a skilled firmware engineer to join the engineering services team. You will contribute to all areas of firmware development—including prototyping of new concepts, development of features, unit testing, issue investigations, code maintenance, peer code review, and documentation—to deliver high-quality power conversion products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of related work experience.
• Proficient in C for embedded development; C++ is a plus.
• Knowledge of frameworks, drivers and legacy codes for MCUs and DSPs.
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, RS-485, Ethernet.
• Familiar with debugging equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies.
• Familiar reading hardware schematics and data sheets.
• Experience with software development life cycle processes (Waterfall, Agile, or Scrum).
• Experience with version control systems such as Git and SVN.
• Knowledge of Python.
• Familiarity with MISRA or other coding standards is a plus.
• Disciplined, detail-oriented; able to deliver robust, readable code.
• Good communication skills, verbal and written.
• Adaptable in a fast-paced, growing organization with multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Collaboration on firmware architecture and testing strategies.
• Support modification and verification of existing code, perform integration and unittest.
• Clearly communicate design constraints and trade-offs to teammates and management.
• Perform system integration and validation testing for interoperability within the solution.
• Participate in all project lifecycle phases from design and code development through unit testing, documentation, and release.
• Support legacy products for troubleshooting and upgrade.
• Translate customer requirements into the best possible solution within resource, time, and technical constraints.
• Other duties may be assigned.
