Job summary

Verdant Energy in Makati, Philippines seeks a skilled financial accountant to manage project accounting for renewable energy initiatives. You will prepare statements, maintain the general ledger, analyze variances, and support budgeting processes.

You will advise on ROI for new projects, monitor cash flow, and collaborate with procurement and project teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and timely closure of accounts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in financial accounting.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP.
• Experience in project accounting and financial reporting for capital-intensive industries.
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and MS Excel (pivot tables, financial modeling).
• Understanding of financial compliance, tax regulations, and audit procedures.
• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/GAAP.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and timely posting of journal entries.
• Monitor project-level financial performance and reconcile project expenses, revenues, and capitalized costs.
• Oversee asset accounting for renewable energy projects, including depreciation and amortization.
• Support annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Analyze variances between actuals vs. budget to identify trends and risks.
• Provide financial analysis for new renewables projects, including ROI modeling.
• Assist with cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
• Manage project-based accounting for construction, EPC activities, and O&M operations.
• Track CAPEX and OPEX and ensure alignment with procurement and PM teams.
• Ensure proper cost allocation, WIP monitoring, and timely project closure.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support audits with schedules, documentation, and responses.

• Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure timely posting of journal entries.
• Monitor project-level financial performance and reconcile project expenses, revenues, and capitalized costs.
• Oversee accounting for assets related to renewable energy projects, including depreciation, amortization, and component-based asset tracking.
• Support preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Analyze variances between actuals vs. budget to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Provide financial analysis for new renewable energy projects, including cost modeling, ROI, and funding requirements
• Assist with cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
• Manage project-based accounting for construction, EPC activities, and O&M operations.
• Track CAPEX and OPEX across renewable energy projects and reconcile with procurement and project management teams.
• Ensure accurate cost allocation, WIP monitoring, and timely project financial closure.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Support external and internal audit processes by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses.
• Monitor tax compliance, including VAT, corporate income tax, and tax incentives applicable to renewable energy projects.
• Maintain accurate financial records using ERP or accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, QuickBooks).
• Recommend process improvements to strengthen financial controls and increase efficiency.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in financial accounting

• Experience in project accounting and financial reporting for capital-intensive industries
