Job summary

Verdant Philippines Services Company, Inc. seeks a seasoned accounting professional to manage financial statements and project accounting for renewable energy initiatives in Makati. This on-site role requires 3–5 years of experience, a strong IFRS/GAAP background, and proficiency with ERP systems.

You will oversee GL integrity, budgeting, forecasting, and tax compliance while supporting audits and process improvements. CPA is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in financial accounting.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP.
• Experience in project accounting and financial reporting for capital-intensive industries.
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and MS Excel (pivot tables, financial modeling).
• CPA preferred.
• Experience in renewable energy, engineering, infrastructure, utilities, or project-based industries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/GAAP.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and timely posting of journal entries.
• Monitor project-level financial performance and reconcile project expenses, revenues, and capitalized costs.
• Oversee asset accounting for renewables including depreciation and amortization.
• Support annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Analyze variances between actuals vs. budget to identify trends and risks.
• Provide financial analysis for new renewable energy projects including ROI and funding requirements.
• Assist with cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
• Manage project-based accounting for construction, EPC activities, and O&M operations.
• Track CAPEX and OPEX across renewable energy projects and reconcile with procurement.
• Ensure accurate cost allocation, WIP monitoring, and timely project closure.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Support audit processes by preparing schedules and responses.
• Monitor tax compliance including VAT and corporate income tax.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure timely posting of journal entries.
• Monitor project-level financial performance and reconcile project expenses, revenues, and capitalized costs.
• Oversee accounting for assets related to renewable energy projects, including depreciation, amortization, and component-based asset tracking.
• Support preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Analyze variances between actuals vs. budget to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Provide financial analysis for new renewable energy projects, including cost modeling, ROI, and funding requirements
• Assist with cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
• Manage project-based accounting for construction, EPC activities, and O&M operations.
• Track CAPEX and OPEX across renewable energy projects and reconcile with procurement and project management teams.
• Ensure accurate cost allocation, WIP monitoring, and timely project financial closure.

• Support external and internal audit processes by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses.

• Maintain accurate financial records using ERP or accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, QuickBooks).
• Recommend process improvements to strengthen financial controls and increase efficiency.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in financial accounting
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP)
• Experience in project accounting and financial reporting for capital-intensive industries
• Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and MS Excel (pivot tables, financial modeling, etc.)
• Understanding of financial compliance, tax regulations, and audit procedures
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred
• Experience in renewable energy, engineering, infrastructure, utilities, or project-based industries preferred
• Familiarity with EPC project accounting, CAPEX management, and revenue recognition for long-term projects is a plus
• Knowledge of asset accounting for power plants or renewable installations is an advantage.
