• 4+ years in accounting, bookkeeping, or payroll with hands-on depth.
• Strong technical skills in reconciliations, month-end close, payroll, and indirect tax.
• Eagerness to master Xero and Australian financial systems.
• Advanced Excel and Google Sheets with forecasting and variance analysis.
• Excellent written and spoken communication; able to own client relationships.
• Sound judgement and ability to prioritise deadlines; root-cause focus.
• Familiarity with AI and LLMs for finance work.

In this role you will lead delivery across a portfolio of Australian clients and stay close enough to the work to own its quality.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Finance Manager who leads from the front. This is a real leadership role with responsibility for client relationships, team output, and the processes that hold it all together. It is not a sit-back-and-delegate position. You will be expected to prove your capability by doing the work yourself, setting the technical standard, and earning the trust of clients and team through the quality of what you deliver. Over time you will take on more responsibility and grow our finance operation, but the foundation is hands-on credibility from day one.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery across a portfolio of Australian SME clients, staying close enough to the work to personally run and review bookkeeping, reconciliations, month-end close, payroll, AP, AR, and BAS and IAS preparation.
• Act as the senior point of contact for clients, handling escalations, delivering insights, and supporting high-stakes decisions with clear financial analysis.
• Set the technical standard for analysts and bookkeepers, reviewing and improving their work and lifting the team by example.
• Ensure compliance with Australian taxation, superannuation, payroll, and statutory obligations across all accounts under your responsibility.
• Design and improve scalable finance processes, using technology and AI to lift efficiency and consistency across multiple clients.
• Manage workflow, capacity, and deadlines across the team while carrying your own client load, and report on delivery to the founder.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Honours from a top Philippine university is well regarded.
• Qualified CPA in the Philippines.
• 4+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or payroll, with the technical depth to own complex work yourself, not just supervise it.
• Strong, current technical skills in reconciliations, month-end close, payroll, and indirect tax.
• Eagerness to master Xero and Australian financial systems. Prior Australian or Xero experience is an advantage but not required.
• Advanced Excel and Google Sheets, with a working grasp of forecasting, variance analysis, and data-driven problem solving.
• Exceptional written and spoken communication, comfortable owning client relationships and presenting clearly.
• Sound judgement, the ability to prioritise across competing deadlines, and a bias for fixing root causes rather than symptoms.
• Practical familiarity with AI and LLMs for finance work.
