Job summary

Black & White Engineering is a leading engineering consultancy with a global footprint, seeking a senior financial accountant for UK and European entities. You will manage full-cycle GL, closing processes, and financial reporting to support group finance and lenders.

The role requires 8+ years in accounting, a degree in accounting (CPA preferred), and strong English communication. You will lead a team and collaborate with auditors, tax advisors, and external partners in a multinational context.

Qualifications

We specialize in the full spectrum of engineering design consultancy for the data centre sector, including Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP), Civil & Structural, Design Management, Sustainability, BIM, Power Systems, and other infrastructure-related services.

The ideal candidate will hold an appropriate degree in Accounting / Finance or an equivalent professional qualification and should have relevant experience in Financial Accounting. Moreover, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the running of finance systems and associated projects, takes responsibility for critical business finance function, monitoring of financial projects and reporting facilities.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Financial Closing - UK & Europe

• Oversee full-cycle GL accounting processes for assigned entities, spanning daily operational tasks, weekly reviews, and month-end closing activities.
• Review accounting entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting across the Group's UK and European subsidiaries.
• Review complete financial statements, tax returns, and statutory reporting packages for accuracy and compliance.
• Lead monthly financial close routines as required, including the review and validation of prepayments, accruals, depreciation, and adjusting journal entries.
• Timely review and validation of intercompany invoices.
• Partner with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities for seamless filing of statutory accounts, VAT, and corporate tax returns.
• Support the Group Finance team with reporting packages for private equity partners and financial lenders.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA is preferred but not required
• 8 + years proven working experience in the accounting and finance. Prior experience within a multinational company and a shared services setup is highly preferred.
• At least 3-year experience in managing a team
• Prior experience in dealing with VAT & Tax matters for UK & European businesses
• Strong background and knowledge in ERP System- preferably D365
• Excellent report-writing and English communication skills.
• Highly organized individual with strong attention to detail
• Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel.
• Self-starter demonstrating commitment, a strong work ethic and a "can do" attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Analytical thinker with solid accounting knowledge and strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with experience liaising with local authorities and external partners.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
