Job description

About the role

The Finance Controller (FC) for the Non-Fuel Businesses is responsible for the full accounting and finance function of Unioil's Non-Fuel Business Group, covering multiple legal entities across retail, logistics, food & beverage, leasing, and holding companies. The FC leads a team of Accounting Managers and owns end-to-end accounting, Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Treasury processes for the group. The role carries particular accountability for the timely finalization of local statutory audits in coordination with external auditors, and for accurate, on-time external reporting to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Local Government Units (LGUs), and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). The FC reports directly to the CFO and serves as the finance lead for the Non-Fuel Business Group's entities.

Key responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end accounting cycle — record-to-report — for all entities within the Non-Fuel Business Group (retail, logistics, F&B, leasing, and holding companies)

  • Oversee Accounts Receivable, including billing, collections, credit monitoring, and aging management across business lines

  • Oversee Accounts Payable, ensuring accurate, timely, and properly authorized disbursements and vendor reconciliations

  • Manage Treasury processes for the group, including cash positioning, bank relationships, intercompany funding, and cash flow forecasting

  • Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities are completed accurately and within Group deadlines

  • Lead the finalization of local statutory audits for all entities within the Non-Fuel Business Group, acting as the primary finance point of contact for external auditors

  • Prepare and review audited financial statements, footnotes, and supporting schedules in accordance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS)

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Local Government Units (LGUs), and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Accounting Managers assigned to each entity/business line, ensuring consistent standards, capability, and succession readiness

  • Partner with business unit heads (Retail, Logistics, F&B, Leasing) to provide financial insight, cost discipline, and decision support

About you
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field; a Law degree, MBA, or CFA is an advantage

  • Minimum 10–12 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 4–5 years in a Controller, Finance Manager, or senior accounting leadership role

  • Prior experience with a Big 4 or reputable external audit firm is strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple legal entities or a group/holding company structure, ideally across diverse industries (retail, F&B, logistics, or leasing)

  • Hands-on experience finalizing statutory audits and managing external auditor relationships

  • Working knowledge of PSE disclosure requirements, SEC filing requirements, LGU compliance, and BIR tax regulations

  • Strong people management experience, having directly supervised accounting managers or supervisors

  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel; experience with consolidation tools is a plus

  • Technical mastery of PFRS, statutory audit processes, and Philippine regulatory compliance (PSE/SEC/LGU/BIR)
