Job Description

The Executive – OT will coordinate and manage day-to-day operation theatre activities, ensuring timely scheduling, availability of equipment and supplies, compliance with infection‑control protocols, proper documentation, and smooth coordination between surgeons, anaesthesia teams, nursing staff, and support departments.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily operation theatre schedules and surgical procedures.
  • Ensure OT readiness before every scheduled procedure.
  • Coordinate with surgeons, anaesthetists, OT nurses, and supporting departments.
  • Verify availability of required instruments, equipment, implants, consumables, and medicines.
  • Coordinate timely preparation of OT rooms for scheduled procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate pre‑operative and post‑operative arrangements.
  • Monitor OT utilization, scheduling, cancellations, and delays.
  • Maintain accurate OT registers, surgical schedules, and procedure records.
  • Ensure proper documentation of surgical procedures and OT activities.
  • Coordinate with CSSD for sterilization and timely availability of surgical instruments.
  • Monitor adherence to infection prevention and control protocols.
  • Ensure appropriate cleaning, disinfection, and preparation of OT areas.
  • Check availability and functional status of critical OT equipment.
  • Report equipment breakdowns and coordinate with biomedical/engineering teams.
  • Monitor stock levels of OT consumables and coordinate replenishment.
  • Support proper handling, counting, storage, and disposal of surgical materials.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with hospital policies and applicable quality standards.
  • Monitor OT safety protocols, including surgical safety checklist compliance.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping, pharmacy, blood bank, laboratory, and other support services.
  • Prepare OT utilization and performance reports for management.
  • Identify operational issues and recommend measures to improve OT efficiency.
