Job Description

The Consultant – Ophthalmology is responsible for diagnosing and treating eye diseases, performing ophthalmic procedures and surgeries, and providing comprehensive vision and eye-care services.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic examinations and consultations.
• Diagnose and manage common and complex eye disorders.
• Perform ophthalmic surgical and laser procedures as required.
• Evaluate patients for cataract, glaucoma, retinal, corneal, and other eye conditions.
• Interpret visual acuity, OCT, visual-field, fundus, and other diagnostic investigations.
• Develop individualized treatment and surgical plans.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative eye care.
• Manage ophthalmic emergencies and acute eye conditions.
• Coordinate with other specialists for multidisciplinary patient care.
• Counsel patients regarding treatment options and eye health.
• Maintain accurate patient records and surgical documentation.
• Ensure proper sterilization and infection-control practices.
• Monitor treatment outcomes and patient recovery.
• Participate in clinical audits and quality-improvement initiatives.
• Guide junior doctors and ophthalmology trainees.
