Job summary

Catholic Relief Services Philippines seeks an Environmental and Social Safeguards (ESS) Officer to support the ESS system for the Philippines Carbon Finance Pilot and RESEED project. The role focuses on implementing, monitoring, documenting, and improving safeguards in line with donor and CRS policies, and coordinating with the Senior ESS Officer and Senior Project Officer for Social Standards.

Your work will help identify, manage, and document environmental and social risks during project

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental or social safeguards, risk management, or related development programs.
• Experience formulating ESS Plan and supporting implementation for donor-funded projects is preferred.
• Experience conducting field monitoring, compliance verification, and stakeholder consultations is highly desirable.
• Experience working with indigenous people's communities and local partners is an advantage.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly to field sites and remote communities.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation and monitoring of ESS systems for CRS Philippines projects.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with donor requirements and national regulations.
• Document environmental and social risk management activities and outcomes.
• Coordinate with Senior ESS Officer and project teams to strengthen safeguards.
