Job Summary:

The Equipment Engineer (PIC) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, deployment, utilization, preventive maintenance, and repair activities of all company-owned and rented equipment. The role ensures maximum equipment availability, operational efficiency, compliance with safety standards, and cost-effective maintenance practices to support project and business requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Equipment Operations Management

• Supervise the daily deployment, mobilization, and demobilization of equipment to project sites.

• Monitor equipment utilization and ensure optimum allocation based on project requirements.

• Coordinate with Operations, Project Managers, and Site Personnel regarding equipment requirements and availability.

• Ensure proper documentation of equipment movements, transfers, and assignments.

• Monitor equipment productivity and recommend actions to improve utilization rates.

2. Maintenance Management

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all equipment and vehicles.

• Schedule and supervise routine inspections, servicing, and repairs.

• Ensure timely corrective maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.

• Review maintenance records and recommend replacement or overhaul of aging equipment.

• Coordinate with external service providers and suppliers for specialized repairs when necessary.

3. Fleet and Asset Monitoring

• Maintain an updated inventory of equipment, tools, attachments, and spare parts.

• Monitor equipment condition and lifecycle status.

• Conduct regular equipment audits and inspections.

• Recommend equipment acquisition, disposal, or replacement based on operational requirements.

4. Safety and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and government regulations.

• Conduct regular safety inspections on equipment and machinery.

• Ensure operators and mechanics follow established operating and maintenance procedures.

• Investigate equipment-related incidents, breakdowns, and accidents and implement corrective actions.

• Coordinate operator certifications and equipment competency requirements.

5. Cost Control and Budget Management

• Monitor maintenance and repair costs.

• Review fuel consumption, lubricant usage, and spare parts utilization.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining equipment reliability.

• Assist in preparing annual maintenance and operational budgets.

6. Spare Parts and Inventory Management

• Ensure availability of critical spare parts and consumables.

• Monitor stock levels and coordinate procurement requirements.

• Implement inventory control measures to avoid shortages and excess inventory.

• Verify quality and specifications of purchased parts and materials.

7. Team Leadership and Supervision

• Supervise Equipment Coordinators, Mechanics, Technicians, and Equipment Operators.

• Assign work schedules and monitor team performance.

• Conduct coaching, performance evaluations, and skills development activities.

• Promote teamwork and adherence to company policies and procedures.

8. Reporting and Documentation

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly equipment utilization reports.

• Submit maintenance performance reports, downtime analysis, and cost reports.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment history files.

• Present recommendations for operational and maintenance improvements.
