Engineering Design Assistant Manager (Iloilo/Bacolod)

Job summary

SMDC is seeking an experienced design professional to support SMDC’s engineering design management across mechanical, civil, electrical and sanitary disciplines. You will uphold design standards, review external consultants’ works and drive value engineering within project timelines.

The candidate must be a licensed engineer with leadership, communication and analytical skills to ensure compliant, cost-conscious designs for SMDC residences and properties.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Sanitary) with relevant board licensure.
• Board exam passer with a valid PRC license.
• Master Plumber license is an advantage.
• Preferably 5 years of experience with property developers, real estate, contractors or consulting firms.
• Preferably 3+ years as Design Assistant Manager or Design Engineer in similar firms.
• Demonstrates leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work creatively and analytically in a team environment.
• Strong time-management and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Uphold and strictly implement SMDC’s approved Design Checklists and Design Standards.
• Assist Engineering Design Manager in reviewing sanitary and plumbing works from external consultants and note design changes.
• Participate in meetings to identify value engineering and cost-saving items pre-implementation.
• Assist in reviewing design parameters proposed by external consultants and ensure action items are closed.
• Review MEPFS & CS designs, layouts, drawings and specs to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor deliverable timelines of external consultants and communicate when delays occur.
• Assist in annual MEPF audits of SMDC residences, properties, and projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB DESCRIPTION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Uphold and strictly implement he approved SMDC’s Design Checklists and Design Standards.

2. Assist the corresponding Engineering Design Manager in the review of Sanitary Engineering Works and Plumbing Works coming from external design consultants and take note and consider design changes propose by project stakeholders involved in the project prior to project implementation.

3. Participate on meetings and discussions in identifying potential value engineering and cost saving items prior to implementation of the projects.

4. Assist the corresponding Engineering Design Manager in the review and evaluation of design parameters proposed by the external design consultants. Ensure that all action items from the evaluation is properly executed and closed.

5. Assists the corresponding Engineering Design Manager in the review of the MEPFS & CS engineering designs and layouts, systems and other engineering drawings, reports and specifications submitted by the external design consultants at each stage of the Design Management Stage to ensure adequacy, accuracy and compliance to applicable codes and legal requirements as specified in the scope of work and contract agreement. Ensure that all action items from the evaluation is properly executed and closed.

6. Assist the corresponding engineering Design Manager in monitoring the timelines of deliverables of the external design consultants. Provide necessary action and communication to the external design consultant whenever attainment of deliverables are compromised.

7. Assist the Engineering Design Manager and perform yearly MEPF Audit of all SMDC Residences/Properties/Projects

8. Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED

1. Must be a graduate of any Engineering trade (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Sanitary Engineering)

2. Board exam passer with a valid PRC license

3. License as Master Plumber is an advantage

4. Preferably have a total work experience of at least 5 years from a property developer, real estate, contractor or consulting firm

5. Preferably with at least three (3) years of extensive work experience as Design Assistant Manager or as Design Engineer from a property developer, real estate, contractor or consulting firm

6. Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence

7. Good leadership, communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills

8. Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands

9. Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint with experience presenting to stakeholders

10. Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

11. Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
