We work together to create a culture based on respect, trust, and inclusiveness. Our differences are what fuel our creativity.
What will you do?
This role is suited to an engineer who has a sound structural foundation, enjoys solving practical problems and wants to build a long-term career in bridge and civil structures design. You will work as an integrated member of Aurecon's Manila and NSW/ACT teams, contributing to Australian infrastructure projects while learning directly from experienced engineers, designers and modelers. We are looking for someone who is curious, reliable, engaged and ready to grow.
As an Engineer in the Bridges & Civil Structures team, you will:
- Contribute to the analysis, design, assessment and detailing of bridges and civil structures across concept, detailed design and construction support phases.
- Work collaboratively with engineers and modelling specialists in Manila and NSW/ACT as one integrated delivery team.
- Develop practical engineering solutions with safety, constructability, durability and whole-of-life outcomes in mind.
- Build your technical capability through coaching, review, structured learning and progressively increasing responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake structural analysis and design tasks under appropriate guidance and review.
- Prepare and maintain design calculations, design records, sketches, reports, schedules and supporting technical documentation.
- Coordinate with engineers, modelers and other disciplines so designs are communicated clearly and documented accurately.
- Check your own work, respond constructively to reviews and close out comments in a timely and traceable way.
- Identify missing inputs, technical risks or uncertainties and discuss these early with the task or design lead.
- Contribute to project meetings, design reviews and team discussions, including presenting your work when appropriate.
- Apply Aurecon's quality, safety and design processes and contribute to safe, practical and sustainable outcomes.
- Take increasing ownership of defined design tasks and small work packages as your capability develops.
- Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the Manila and NSW/ACT teams.
Bring energy to the team by asking questions, sharing ideas and taking ownership of agreed tasks. We know today's complex challenges can only be solved through bringing together diverse teams of people from across our business, so there will be opportunities for you to apply your skills and creativity to projects in other geographies and markets.
What can you bring to the team?
Firstly, you will share our genuine passion for re-imagining engineering and be someone that actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future. You will also need the following:
- Recognized bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Experience in the design or assessment of bridges and/or civil structures such as retaining walls, culverts, water-retaining structures, foundations or similar infrastructure.
- Ability to interpret and communicate 2D and 3D structural geometry, including through clear sketches and mark-ups.
- Competence in structural analysis and design, with the ability to prepare transparent calculations, design records and technical reports.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including confidence to ask questions, explain assumptions and raise issues early.
- A collaborative, dependable approach and genuine interest in learning, receiving feedback and sharing knowledge.

- Experience with MIDAS Civil or Space Gass.
- Experience with reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete and/or steel structures.
- Experience working across locations, disciplines or time zones in a consulting environment.
- Interest in digital engineering, automation or improving technical workflows.
How will you work and grow:
- You will have access to experienced bridge and civil structures engineers who will provide technical guidance and review.
- Your responsibilities will be matched to your experience, with the expectation that you take ownership while seeking help when needed.
