Job summary

Aurecon Group is a global engineering and advisory firm, inviting a senior geotechnical engineer to join our Ground and Underground Engineering Practice. The role focuses on delivering technically complex geotechnical design and investigations across multidisciplinary projects, with opportunities to mentor and grow the team.

You will lead technical delivery from feasibility through construction, driving excellence and client-focused outcomes.

Qualifications

• 15+ years geotechnical engineering experience.
• Experience leading and reviewing complex geotechnical design and investigations.
• Proven leadership, mentoring and development of engineers and geologists.
• ANZ experience.
• Geotechnical design or numerical modelling – Lexis, slope value.
• Software – Plaxis 2D and 3D, Slope Stability, Piling.
• Road geotechnical design or rail.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of geotechnical services across multidisciplinary projects from feasibility and concept design through detailed design and construction.
• Provide leadership on complex geotechnical problems, including directing and reviewing advanced analyses using tools such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio and Rocscience.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers and geologists, supporting the ongoing development of the Ground Engineering team.
• Drive technical excellence through technical reviews, standards adherence and knowledge sharing.
• Manage multidisciplinary interfaces to deliver integrated, practical and commercially sound design solutions.
• Apply strong written and verbal communication and commercial judgment to resolve complex client challenges.
• Support multidisciplinary project delivery across transport infrastructure, water infrastructure, dams, energy distribution and building projects.

In this position you will join the Ground and Underground Engineering Practice in our Transport Service Group, where you will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that ‘Bring Ideas to Life’ for our clients. With a focus on growing our Ground Engineering capabilities in NSW we are actively recruiting a senior technical person who is passionate about working collaboratively and on building eminence. You’ll play a key role in delivering technically complex, high‑impact projects while helping grow the capability of those around you.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the delivery of geotechnical services across multidisciplinary projects from feasibility and concept design through detailed design and construction.
• Provide technical leadership on complex geotechnical problems, including directing and reviewing advanced analysis using tools such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio and Rocscience.
• Provide leadership, mentoring and technical guidance to engineers and geologists, supporting the ongoing development of the Ground Engineering team.
• Drive technical excellence through technical review, application of relevant standards and development and sharing of geotechnical knowledge.
• Manage multidisciplinary interfaces to achieve integrated, practical and commercially appropriate design solutions.
• Apply strong written and verbal communication, commercial judgement and technical expertise to resolve complex project and client challenges.
• Support the delivery of multidisciplinary projects through the provision of geotechnical design at feasibility, concept, detailed design and construction phase services stages. You will have the opportunity to contribute to large transport infrastructure projects, water infrastructure, dams, energy distribution and building projects.

• Proven ability to deliver high‑quality geotechnical designs and reports
