Job summary

HCLTech is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer – Functional Safety to join a global engineering team. The role focuses on safety-critical software for automotive ECMs, with emphasis on Embedded C development and ISO 26262 Functional Safety processes.

Responsibilities include developing safety-related software, performing verification activities, and ensuring traceability across safety requirements, design, and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of embedded software development in C.
• Experience in the automotive industry with ECUs/ECMs.
• Working knowledge of ISO 26262 Functional Safety.
• Experience with unit testing, static analysis, and integration testing.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills; advanced English communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain safety-related software components for automotive ECUs/ECMs.
• Implement software requirements derived from TSRs.
• Ensure compliance with Functional Safety and software development processes.
• Perform software verification activities including unit testing, static analysis, code reviews, and integration testing.
• Support software integration, troubleshooting, debugging, and defect resolution throughout the development lifecycle.
• Participate in software design, code, and test reviews.
• Maintain traceability between safety requirements, software design, implementation, testing, and released software baselines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams across global locations.

About the Role

We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer – Functional Safety to join a global engineering team supporting the development of safety-critical software for automotive Electronic Control Modules (ECMs). The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Embedded C development, automotive software, and a solid understanding of ISO 26262 Functional Safety processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain safety-related software components for automotive Electronic Control Modules (ECMs).
• Implement software requirements derived from Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs).
• Ensure compliance with Functional Safety and software development processes.

Required Qualifications (Must Have)

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing embedded software in C.
• Experience in the automotive industry with Electronic Control Units (ECUs) or Electronic Control Modules (ECMs).
• Working knowledge of ISO 26262 Functional Safety.
• Experience with software verification activities such as:
• Unit Testing
• Static Code Analysis
• Integration Testing
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced English communication skills.
