Job summary

SMC MRT-7 O&M Corporation is seeking a qualified Signaling Technician to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of signaling systems for MRT7. You will patrol and inspect CT C and wayside equipment, conduct preventive maintenance, and aid in repairs to ensure reliability and availability of signaling infrastructure.

The role requires 1–3 years in a related maintenance field, with NC II certification and relevant technical education. Assignment is at MRT-7 Depot, Quezon City, Philippines.

Job description

As a key subsidiary of SMC Infrastructure, SMC MRT-7 O&M Corporation is responsible for the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the MRT7 project. The MRT7 Project is set to redefine the commute between Metro Manila and Bulacan by introducing a modern, high-efficiency rail network.

The MRT7 Project at a Glance

The MRT7 is a 22-kilometer rail and road system extending from North Avenue in Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Designed to be a backbone of northern metropolitan transit, the project features 14 strategically placed stations, including Quezon North Avenue Joint Station, University Avenue, Batasan, and San Jose del Monte.

Once fully operational, the MRT7 is engineered to support a massive daily capacity of up to 650,000 passengers, offering a faster and more seamless travel experience for the commuting public.

About the Role

The rationale and purpose behind the existence of this position is to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and inspections of signaling systems as assigned by Signaling Lead. This includes patrolling activities, responding promptly to operational failures, and provide technical coordination for activities requiring specialized expertise to ensure reliability and availability of signaling systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily inspection of Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) and wayside signaling equipment.
• Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly preventive maintenance inspections on wayside systems and Signaling Equipment Rooms (SER).
• Execute semi-annual and annual overhaul/maintenance procedures on electric switch machines and core signaling devices.
• Perform unscheduled maintenance and corrective troubleshooting on signaling equipment to minimize system downtime.
• Act as a first responder on the Quick Response Team (QRT) to isolate and rectify signaling failures during operations.
• Carry out general workshop support activities, including proper maintenance of test equipment, tools, and work areas.
• Support component-level testing and basic Printed Circuit Board (PCB) repairs for signaling sub-assemblies.
• Assist in identifying spare parts, tools, and technical specifications for signaling procurement and inventory requisitions.

Qualifications:

• Academic Attainment: Certification in Vocational Course/s or Diploma in Technology-related Fields. Degree/Course: Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Control Engineering, Railway Engineering, or other relevant 2- to 3-year technical courses.
• Certifications: NC II Certification
• Min. years of Experience: at least 1-3 years of related work experience
• Relevant technical or maintenance-related role
• Preferred industry: Railway, Transportation, Railway Manufacturing
