Job summary

SMC MRT-7 O&M Corporation is hiring for a maintenance technician to ensure reliability of the MRT-7 communications and AFC systems. You will perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance, calibrate tools, and support the setup of the MRT-7 PCB repair center under the supervision of the Communications & AFC Lead.

The role requires 2–3 years of relevant maintenance experience or an NC II certification, plus a Diploma/Certificate in Electrical/Electronics or related technology.

Qualifications

• NC II certification required for associate level.
• 2–3 years of relevant maintenance experience; railway/transport preferred.
• Willing to be assigned to MRT-7 Depot, Greater Lagro, Quezon City.

Responsibilities

Job description

As a key subsidiary of SMC Infrastructure, SMC MRT-7 O&M Corporation is responsible for the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the MRT7 project. The MRT7 Project is set to redefine the commute between Metro Manila and Bulacan by introducing a modern, high-efficiency rail network.

The MRT7 Project at a Glance

The MRT7 is a 22-kilometer rail and road system extending from North Avenue in Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Designed to be a backbone of northern metropolitan transit, the project features 14 strategically placed stations, including Quezon North Avenue Joint Station, University Avenue, Batasan, and San Jose del Monte.

Once fully operational, the MRT7 is engineered to support a massive daily capacity of up to 650,000 passengers, offering a faster and more seamless travel experience for the commuting public.

About the Role:

The rationale and purpose behind the existence of this position is to perform shift-based preventive and corrective maintenance, routine patrols, and emergency troubleshooting to ensure maximum reliability, availability, and safety of MRT-7 Communications and Automated Fare Collection (AFC) systems. Operating under the direction of the Communications & AFC Lead, the role also supports asset lifecycle management, including procurement, scrap identification, and the setup of the PCB repair center, while contributing field insights to optimize maintenance manuals, work processes, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute routine scheduled maintenance (daily, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, and 3-year intervals) across Communications and Automated Fare Collection (AFC) systems, including TVMs, automatic gates, CCTV, radio, public address, UPS, and master clocks.
• Perform corrective maintenance and component repairs on all Communications, AFC, network, and auxiliary equipment as needed to restore functional availability.
• Serve as a first responder for system failures, coordinating with fault controllers and delivering root-cause analysis reports within prescribed timelines.
• Log equipment status, movement, and maintenance accomplishments with 100% accuracy in the Maintenance Management System (MMS).
• Ensure 100% calibration verification of tools before/after use, strict 5S work area housekeeping, and proper return of special tools and spares to asset management.
• Support Engineering and Planning by providing operational inputs and assistance with Terms of Reference (TOR) for establishing the MRT7 PCB repair center.
• Generate accurate maintenance demand signals based on historical data, conduct quality checks upon delivery, and oversee contractor work, mobilization, and service acceptance.
• Identify and flag scrap candidates (BER, obsolete, or damaged assets) in the MMS with supporting photo and test documentation.
• Provide practical maintenance data and field insights to refine work processes, safety regulations, and maintenance manuals.
• Maintain a zero-incident safety record while providing technical support and document turnaround within targeted deadlines (3-day standard).

Qualifications:

• Academic Attainment: Certification of Vocational Course/s or Diploma in Technology Courses Degree/Course: Electrical/Electronics/Electromechanics/Instrumentation and Control/Railway/Computer Engineering, Technical (2 to 3 year course)
• Certifications: NC II Certification (required for Associate level)
• Min. years of Experience: 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience or NC II Certification for Associate level; at least 1 year of experience for Assistant level
• Previous position held: Relevant technical or maintenance-related role
• Preferred industry: Railway, Transportation, Railway Manufacturing
