The Truck Electrician / Aircon Truck Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the electrical and air-conditioning systems of the company’s heavy-duty vehicles, including trailer trucks. The position ensures that vehicle electrical and air-conditioning systems are operating safely, efficiently, and reliably. The technician will perform preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and roadside assistance when necessary while coordinating with mechanics, drivers, and the Fleet/Maintenance Manager.
Job Description:
A. Automotive Electrical Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical wiring, circuits, and electrical systems of heavy-duty trucks.
- Inspect, test, and troubleshoot batteries, alternators, starter motors, relays, fuses, and wiring systems.
- Diagnose and repair vehicle lighting systems, including headlights, brake lights, signal lights, hazard lights, and warning lights.
- Troubleshoot dashboard indicators, gauges, sensors, and other electronic components.
- Maintain and repair electronic control systems related to the engine, brakes, dashboard, and other vehicle systems.
- Perform electrical testing using multimeters, diagnostic scanners, test lights, and other appropriate tools.
- Trace and repair electrical shorts, loose connections, damaged wires, and faulty electrical components.
- Install and replace electrical components and wiring when necessary.
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections of vehicle electrical systems.
- Respond to electrical breakdowns and perform roadside/emergency repairs when required.
B. Automotive Air-Conditioning Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair air-conditioning problems of trailer trucks and other company vehicles.
- Inspect and troubleshoot air-conditioning components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, blower motors, expansion valves, hoses, belts, and electrical controls.
- Perform air-conditioning system testing to identify leaks, pressure issues, electrical faults, and other problems.
- Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and leak testing using appropriate equipment and procedures.
- Clean and maintain air-conditioning components to ensure proper cooling performance.
- Repair or replace defective air-conditioning components when necessary.
- Troubleshoot blower motors, switches, thermostats, relays, fuses, and other A/C electrical components.
- Conduct preventive maintenance of vehicle air-conditioning systems.
- Ensure proper operation of the A/C system before releasing the vehicle for operation.
- Respond to emergency air-conditioning concerns and perform roadside repairs when necessary.
C. General Maintenance Responsibilities
- Coordinate with mechanics and drivers regarding vehicle electrical and air-conditioning concerns.
- Inspect vehicles and identify potential electrical or A/C problems before they result in breakdowns.
- Prepare reports regarding inspections, repairs, replaced parts, and maintenance activities.
- Maintain proper records of repairs and parts used.
- Ensure that all repairs and performed according to company safety and maintenance standards.
- Maintain tools, diagnostic equipment, and work areas in good and safe condition.
- Follow company policies, safety procedures, and standard operating procedures.
- Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and observe workplace safety practices.
- Assist the maintenance team during vehicle preventive maintenance and major repairs when necessary.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications:
- At least High School graduate
- Preferably a graduate of Automotive Servicing, Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning (RAC), or another related technical/vocational course.
- TESDA NC II certification in Automotive Servicing, Automotive Air-Conditioning, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning, or a related field is an advantage.
Work Experience
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in automotive electrical and/or automotive air conditioning repair.
- Experience working on heavy-duty trucks, trailer trucks are highly preferred.
- Experience in roadside/emergency vehicle repairs is an advantage.
Technical Qualifications
- Knowledgeable in automotive electrical systems, wiring, circuits, batteries, alternators, starter motors, relays, and fuses.
- Knowledgeable in automotive air-conditioning systems and components.
- Skilled in using multimeters, diagnostic scanners, electrical testing equipment, A/C gauges, vacuum pumps, refrigerant recovery/charging equipment, and other automotive tools.
- Able to read and understand automotive wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Able to diagnose electrical and air-conditioning problems and perform appropriate repairs.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures for heavy-duty vehicles.
- With a valid Driver’s License is preferred.
- Willing to perform roadside/emergency repairs when required.

Working Conditions:
- Monday – Saturday
- 9AM – 6PM
- Willing to stay-in
- Required to perform roadside repairs or repairs at other locations where company vehicles experience electrical or air-conditioning problems.
- May be exposed to vehicle noise, heat, dust, grease, oil, refrigerants, and other conditions associated with truck maintenance and repair.
