Job description

We’re hiring a full-time Electrical Estimator for an Australian electrical contracting business. You’ll own the estimating process from start to finish: reading plans and specifications, completing takeoffs, pricing the work, and preparing quotes and tenders for the client to review and send out. This is a remote role working Australian business hours.

The client needs someone who has already priced electrical work and can run with it without much supervision. As you settle in, the role may grow to include tender coordination, supplier management and wider project support.

Key responsibilities

Review electrical plans, drawings and specifications to understand the scope of work

Complete accurate quantity takeoffs for materials, fittings and equipment

Prepare detailed estimates covering materials, labour, plant and subcontractor costs

Prepare and submit quotes and tender responses by the client’s deadlines

Apply the client’s pricing, margins and rates consistently across all estimates

Write up scope clarifications, assumptions and exclusions for each quote

Request and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing, and keep price lists and cost databases up to date

Follow up on submitted quotes and revise estimates when scope or pricing changes

Keep estimates, takeoffs and tender documents organised and easy to find

Flag unclear scope, risks or missing information to the client early

What you’ll bring

Hands‑on experience as an Electrical Estimator or in a similar role

A portfolio of your past work, such as sample estimates, takeoffs or project examples

Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, drawings and specifications

Experience completing quantity takeoffs and pricing electrical works

Experience with takeoff or estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift or similar

Strong Excel or estimating spreadsheet skills

Excellent attention to detail, especially under tight quote deadlines

Excellent written and spoken English

Ability to work independently and manage your own workload

A reliable internet connection, power backup and a quiet remote work setup

Nice to have

Familiarity with Australian standards such as AS/NZS 3000

Experience across commercial, industrial or residential projects

Background in the electrical trade, engineering or construction
