This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing project execution, developing high-performing teams, managing financial performance, and ensuring successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC), large-scale construction management, design-build delivery, mechanical/HVAC retrofits, or energy infrastructure projects, along with demonstrated success managing significant project portfolios and multidisciplinary teams.

This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in the continued growth of an established organization while overseeing projects that improve building performance, reduce energy consumption, and modernize critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Operations Leadership
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for construction and project management teams responsible for delivering large-scale sustainable infrastructure and performance contracting projects.

  • Oversee the successful execution of a project portfolio exceeding $100 million, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements.

  • Manage project delivery across multiple contract structures, including performance contracting, design-build, mechanical retrofits, energy conservation, and renewable energy initiatives.

  • Establish project execution standards, resource plans, staffing requirements, and operational objectives to maximize efficiency and profitability.

  • Oversee project planning, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, risk management, quality assurance, and contract administration.

  • Provide leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from early development and preconstruction through execution, closeout, and post-project evaluation.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, operational efficiencies, and enhanced project delivery performance.

Financial & Portfolio Management
  • Maintain overall accountability for the financial performance and profitability of the assigned project portfolio.

  • Manage revenue forecasting, project budgets, gross margins, cash flow, billing, and financial reporting.

  • Monitor project performance against established financial and operational objectives, proactively addressing potential risks or margin erosion.

  • Partner with executive leadership in developing annual operating plans, financial targets, and growth strategies.

  • Participate in monthly project portfolio and backlog reviews, providing accurate forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin.

  • Evaluate complex contract structures, project risks, and financial considerations during project development and execution.

  • Drive improvements in speed to revenue, project profitability, cash flow, and overall operational performance.

Team Development & Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary organization of project managers, construction professionals, and supporting operations personnel.

  • Establish staffing and resource allocation strategies based on project backlog, anticipated growth, and operational requirements.

  • Recruit, retain, and develop high-performing employees while creating clear expectations for accountability, professional growth, and career advancement.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, establish development plans, and support succession planning.

  • Foster a collaborative, results-oriented culture focused on safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

  • Effectively lead both direct-report and matrixed teams across multiple departments and business functions.

Client Relationships & Business Development Support
  • Serve as a senior-level point of contact for customers, including executive and C-suite stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships throughout all phases of project development and execution.

  • Support business development teams during early project evaluation, energy audits, conceptual design, estimating, and contract negotiations.

  • Provide input on project feasibility, subcontractor selection, value engineering, scope development, and risk mitigation.

  • Resolve escalated customer concerns involving project scope, schedule, financial performance, and contractual obligations.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, industry organizations, and other strategic partners.

  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, procurement, and local operations teams to ensure successful project execution.

Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Champion a strong safety culture across all projects, employees, and subcontractors.

  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, applicable building codes, contractual requirements, and federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Establish consistent project management processes, quality standards, and project execution plans.

  • Monitor operational performance through established KPIs, including safety, schedule adherence, customer satisfaction, profitability, and cash flow.

  • Promote ethical business practices, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
