Job summary

Herco Trading, Inc. is seeking a Demand Forecasting Specialist to lead rolling 12–24 month baseline forecasts, maintain models, and identify risks impacting accuracy. • Maintain and improve statistical forecasting models.
• Identify demand patterns and risks affecting forecast accuracy.
• Lead monthly S&OP consensus meetings with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams.
• Develop and maintain a single operational demand plan.
• Partner with Supply Planners to maintain target inventory and safety stock levels.
• Identify opportunities to reduce excess, aging, and obsolete inventory.
• Balance inventory availability with working capital and service-level objectives.
• Monitor forecast accuracy metrics (MAPE and Forecast Bias).
• Analyze forecast variances and root causes; implement improvements to forecasting methodologies and processes.

1. Demand Forecasting

• Analyze historical sales data, market trends, seasonality, and promotional activities to develop accurate rolling 12-24 month baseline demand forecasts.
• Maintain and continuously improve statistical forecasting models.
• Identify demand patterns, trends, and potential risks that may impact forecast accuracy.

2. Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)

• Lead monthly S&OP consensus meetings with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams.
• Facilitate discussions to align stakeholders on demand assumptions, business changes, and risks.
• Develop and maintain a single, agreed-upon operational demand plan.

3. Inventory Optimization

• Partner with Supply Planners to maintain appropriate target inventory and safety stock levels.
• Identify opportunities to reduce excess, aging, and obsolete inventory.
• Balance inventory availability with working capital and service-level objectives.

4. Forecast Performance & Analytics

• Monitor key forecast accuracy metrics, including MAPE and Forecast Bias.
• Analyze forecast variances and identify root causes of significant deviations.
• Recommend and implement improvements to forecasting methodologies and processes to minimize future errors.

5. New Product Introduction (NPI) & Lifecycle Management

• Develop demand estimates and forecasts for New Product Introductions (NPI) using available market, sales, and business assumptions.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to establish demand plans for new products.
• Develop phase-out and demand transition plans for end-of-life (EOL) products to minimize excess and obsolete inventory.
