Job summary

East West Banking Corporation (EastWest) invites a qualified Data Scientist to join its Digital Products and Channels team in Makati, on a hybrid basis. You will develop, deploy, and optimize machine learning models addressing fraud detection, credit risk, and customer segmentation, while analyzing vast financial data to derive actionable insights for strategic decisions.

You will collaborate with business analysts and cross-functional teams to translate business needs into data-driven solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or related field
• Minimum 5–6 years in data analytics, ML, or data science in fintech/banking with at least 1 year in leadership
• Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, ML algorithms, and predictive modeling
• Proficient in Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools like Tableau/Power BI for financial data
• Experience building data-driven fintech solutions: fraud detection, credit risk, customer analytics, optimization

What The Role Will Entail

• Develop, deploy, and optimize machine learning models to address key fintech challenges such as fraud detection, credit risk assessment, and customer segmentation.
• Analyze large and complex datasets to uncover actionable insights that support strategic business decisions and operational improvements.
• Collaborate with business analysts and cross-functional teams to perform exploratory data analysis and translate business needs into data-driven solutions.
• Design and maintain interactive dashboards and data visualizations that enable stakeholders to monitor performance and make informed decisions.
• Monitor, maintain, and continuously improve the accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of existing machine learning models and algorithms.
• Support the reduction of fraud losses and enhancement of operational efficiency through the successful implementation of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or any related field.
• Minimum of 5 to 6 years of experience in data analytics, machine learning, or data science within fintech, banking, or financial services, including at least 1 year in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, and predictive modeling techniques, with experience applying them to business and risk management challenges.
• Proficient in Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI, with experience in financial data analysis and reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to develop data-driven solutions for fintech use cases, including fraud detection, credit risk assessment, customer analytics, and operational optimization.
