Job summary

ING is seeking a Circle Lead, Data Governance to lead a team of data governance professionals and drive the execution of global data governance strategy. You will oversee service delivery, governance standards, risk controls, and stakeholder engagement to ensure data remains a trusted asset across ING.

You'll balance people leadership with strategic planning and partner with global stakeholders to deliver scalable governance services that support regulatory requirements and business objectives,

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, or Data Risk.
• Proven people leadership experience, including coaching, talent development, performance management, and team engagement.
• Strong understanding of governance frameworks, operating models, policies, controls, and regulatory expectations.
• Experience managing complex delivery portfolios and operating within large, matrixed, global organizations.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated experience leading transformation, operational excellence, or continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Data Governance professionals, fostering engagement and continuous improvement.
• Drive the execution of Data Governance strategy and alignment with ING's global objectives.
• Oversee service delivery, capacity planning, workforce management, and operational performance within Data Governance.
• Establish and enhance governance frameworks, controls, policies, and standards for quality, risk, and compliance.
• Partner with senior stakeholders across business, technology, risk, audit, and compliance to drive governance adoption.
• Lead transformation initiatives, service transitions, and automation opportunities.
• Monitor KPIs, risks, controls, and service outcomes to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Promote ownership, accountability, and learning across the team.
• Support leadership decision-making through reporting and governance oversight.
