Job summary

Ocean Technologies Group is seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop and maintain data ingestion, transformation and modelling pipelines as part of the analytics landscape. You will provide the right data at the right time to enable decision making for internal stakeholders and customers as we reshape our data and reporting strategy.

Qualifications

• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines for high-volume data.
• Understanding of data cleansing, query optimisation and data model design.
• Knowledge of dimensional modelling and slowly changing dimensions.
• Experience with cloud technologies including Azure and AWS.
• Scripting in Python or PySpark.
• Strong problem-solving and data problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Liquibase and Jenkins.
• Ability to model data for BI tools like Tableau or Power BI.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments with strict deadlines.
• Team player with proactive knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture from multiple data sources.
• Assemble large, complex data sets meeting business requirements.
• Identify and implement internal process improvements for data delivery and scalability.
• Build infrastructure for ETL/ELT from diverse sources.
• Ensure robust data validation for reporting accuracy.
• Develop data warehousing approaches and data modelling for storage/retrieval.
• Keep data secure and compliant with best practices.
• Collaborate with teams; stay updated with cloud data technologies.
• Provide support, documentation and training as needed.
