Job summary

MEGABON CONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT CORP is seeking a seasoned Costing & Budget Monitoring professional to manage project expenses, allocate direct costs, and analyze variances. The role covers material usage, inventory audits, and ensuring VAT compliance within a construction setting.

You will coordinate with warehouse, site teams, and suppliers, leveraging ERP systems (Odoo/SAP/QuickBooks) and advanced Excel to drive accurate cost control and profitability reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required or equivalent experience.
• CPA certification is an advantage but not required.
• 2–4 years of accounting experience in costing, inventory, forecasting and variance analysis, preferably in construction.
• Proficient in ERP inventory and costing modules; strong Excel and data reconciliation skills.

Responsibilities

• Track actual expenses against approved budgets and report variances.
• Allocate direct costs to project codes (labor, equipment, overhead).
• Analyze cost overruns and coordinate corrective actions with project managers.
• Calculate project profitability using standard construction metrics and cost-to-complete formulas.
• Reconcile material withdrawals against usage on site and perform regular on-site audits.
• Monitor stock levels to prevent overstocking and delays; verify delivery receipts against POs and vendor invoices.
• Prepare tax-related information for withholding taxes and VAT; maintain tax ledgers and assist audits.
• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and provide audit schedules and documentation.

Project Costing & Budget Monitoring

• Track actual expenses against approved project budgets to identify and report variances.

• Allocate direct costs like labor, equipment, and overhead accurately to specific project codes.

• Analyze cost overruns and collaborate with project managers to implement corrective financial actions.

• Calculate project profitability using standard construction metrics and cost-to-complete formulas.

Material Usage & Inventory Monitoring

• Reconcile material withdrawals from warehouses against actual usage on the construction field.

• Conduct regular audits of physical inventory on-site to minimize wastage, theft, and discrepancies.

• Monitor stock levels of construction materials to prevent overstocking or project delays.

• Verify delivery receipts against purchase orders, subcontractor material consumption reports, and verifying vendors/subcon billings with adequate document attachments.

Tax Compliance & Reporting

• Prepare periodic infos. for expanded withholding taxes, final withholding taxes, and Value-Added Tax (VAT).

• Maintain tax books including the general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and official accounting journals.

• Ensure strict compliance with local Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) regulations and statutory codes.

• Compile audit schedules and provide documentation to support external and government tax audits.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, or Finance.

• CPA certification is an advantage but not required.

• Minimum 2-4 years of solid accounting experience specializing in costing and inventory, forecasting, and variance analysis preferably in construction.

Technical & Soft Skills

• Proficient in ERPs such as Odoo, SAP, or QuickBooks, specifically their inventory and costing modules.

• Advanced Excel skills for handling large inventory spreadsheets, pivot tables, and data reconciliation.

• Strong analytical skills to detect cost anomalies and inventory discrepancies quickly.

• Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with warehouse personnel, site personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers.
