Responsibilities
- Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Develop accurate cost estimates for new projects based on project scope, resource requirements, and historical data; work closely with project managers and stakeholders to establish project budgets; identify and quantify potential cost risks.
- Project Cost Tracking & Monitoring: Monitor actual project costs against budgeted figures on a regular basis; track labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs; ensure all project‑related expenditures are recorded properly and timely.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports, including cost performance reports, forecasts, and variance analyses; report budget overruns or cost savings to management and suggest corrective actions; present cost data in meetings with project teams and finance.
- Variance Analysis: Analyze variances between actual and budgeted/projected costs; investigate reasons for deviations and work with relevant departments to correct them; provide recommendations for cost improvements or efficiency gains.
- Project Accounting: Ensure accurate and complete accounting entries related to project costs; reconcile project accounts and ensure they are aligned with the company’s general ledger; assist with month‑end and year‑end closings related to project costs.
- Resource Planning Support: Collaborate with procurement and human resources to forecast and plan project resource requirements; ensure that costs of labor, materials, and equipment are properly allocated to the correct projects.
- Compliance & Controls: Ensure all project costing processes comply with company policies and regulatory requirements; assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary cost documentation and explanations.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or any related course
• At least three (3) years of experience in project costing, estimating, or project controls
• Strong knowledge of cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control methodologies
• Experience in preparing project cost breakdowns, budgets, and variance analyses
• Ability to analyze project plans, drawings, and technical specifications
• Proficient in MS Excel and other cost analysis or estimating tools
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and finance teams
• Ability to handle confidential project and financial information professionally
