Job description

Responsibilities

• Validate and monitor project and departmental costs, ensuring they are accurately recorded and aligned with approved budgets
• Reconcile project costs with the general ledger and coordinate with AP for proper coding and documentation
• Support Finance in understanding cost variances and composition by providing logical explanations and breakdowns
• Ensure cost entries reflect the correct accounting treatment and flow properly through the financial statements
• Assist in cost allocation and estimation for shared resources (e.g., labor, equipment) when needed
• Work with engineers, project managers, and the accounting team to resolve cost-related queries, clarify scope vs. actual and ensure timely posting
• Prepare regular reports on budget utilization and assist in cost tracking across active projects and departments

Qualifications

• Holds a degree in Accountancy
• Has 2–3 years of experience in cost accounting, project accounting, or general accounting
• Understands how cost transactions flow into the books and impact the income statement and balance sheet
• Solid communication and coordination abilities—especially in following up, escalating, and resolving issues
• Is comfortable reconciling actuals vs. budgets and identifying reasons for variances
• Has strong attention to detail and has a problem-solver’s mindset—someone who doesn’t just do, but thinks
• Familiarity with SAP Business One or similar ERP systems is a plus
• Willingness to contribute beyond core duties, especially during peak periods or special projects
