Qualifications

• Formal qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent certification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of site hazards, risk assessment and safety management systems.
• Excellent understanding of local and national health and safety regulations and standards.
• Proven ability to conduct safety inspections, audits and investigations.
• Proficiency in incident reporting and root cause analysis methodologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with personnel at all levels.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Physical fitness to conduct regular site inspections and walkthroughs.
• Computer proficiency and experience with safety management software is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain health, safety and environmental policies across all construction sites.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to identify hazards and non-compliance.
• Investigate accidents and near-misses to determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Provide safety induction and training programs for site personnel and contractors.
• Maintain records of incidents, inspections, audits and trainings.
• Coordinate with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with safety laws.
• Monitor PPE use and maintenance across sites.
• Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings to promote safety culture.
• Coordinate emergency response procedures and drills.
• Report safety performance metrics and suggest improvements to management.
