Job summary

MBM Contracting Inc. is seeking a skilled Estimator to join our Construction team.

You will plan and execute project estimates across design phases and provide cost guidance during execution, collaborating with Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Clients. You will develop Basis of Estimate, perform material takeoffs, convert estimates to unit rates, support funding requests, assess risks, and help standardize estimating processes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Construction, or Construction Management or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience in construction cost estimating and pre-construction services.
• Experience using On-Screen Takeoff preferred.
• Knowledge of construction schedules.
• Strong multitasking skills.
• Highly motivated, energetic, ethical, and organized.
• Strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Estimate planning: create estimate plan and break down work into estimating packages.
• Develop and manage Basis of Estimate (BOE) with scope, assumptions, risks and exclusions.
• Perform material takeoffs from drawings to validate quantities.
• Develop cost estimates from ROM to definitive, bottoms-up estimates.
• Support project funding requests with cost information for management.
• Identify risk and lead contingency development with project managers.
• Perform quality reviews of subcontractor submissions for completeness and accuracy.
• Develop estimating systems, templates, and benchmarks for standardization.
• Track and summarize estimate performance with Finance.
• Estimate projects from minor client reports to 100% complete documents.
• Organize client-provided bid forms and assist preconstruction work.
• Collaborate with clients during preconstruction to develop complete estimates.
