Job summary

Sean Andrew Engineering Services is seeking a bid and cost-estimation specialist to analyze blueprints, perform quantity take-offs, and prepare BOQs for tender submissions. You will collaborate with Project Engineers and Bid Managers to refine cost estimates and optimize pricing.

The role requires strong Excel skills, AutoCAD and Bluebeam proficiency, and sharp analytical abilities. You will coordinate with material suppliers and subcontractors, canvass current market prices, and negotiate terms

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or related technical discipline.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Excel and estimation software.
• Strong numerical accuracy, analytical mindset and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze engineering blueprints, drawings and specs to understand project scopes.

• Cost Estimation & Quantity Take-Off

Analyze engineering blueprints, architectural drawings, and technical specifications to understand project scopes.

Perform detailed Quantity Take-Offs (QTO) to calculate exact material quantities needed for project implementation.

Calculate total costs for labor hours, heavy equipment rentals, transport, and administrative overheads.

Bidding & Proposal Preparation

• Bidding & Proposal Preparation

Prepare accurate Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and detailed cost breakdowns for tender submittals.

Collaborate with Project Engineers and Bid Managers to compile comprehensive, competitive bid proposals.

Review Bid Bulletins and amend project cost estimates dynamically according to changing project specifications.

Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination

Canvass current market prices for specialized materials, tools, and industrial equipment.

Source and evaluate quotes from material suppliers and technical subcontractors to secure the best pricing.

Negotiate contracts and pricing terms with suppliers to maintain target project profit margins.

Risk Management & Profit Analysis

Identify potential commercial risks, material price fluctuations, and hidden constraints in project plans.

Assess cost-effectiveness by evaluating alternative installation methods or materials (Value Engineering).

Maintain an updated database of material costs, labor rates, and historical estimation data for future bidding references.

Job Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or any related technical discipline.

Technical Skills: High proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Excel, and specialized estimation software.

Competencies: Strong numerical accuracy, sharp analytical skills, contract negotiation abilities, and reading complex architectural/MEPFS layouts.

Soft Skills: Excellent time management to meet strict bidding deadlines, clear written communication, and strong attention to detail.
