The Collections Team Lead will oversee the day-to-day operations of the collections team, ensuring productivity, quality, and collection performance targets are consistently achieved. This role requires a hands-on leader who can coach, develop, and motivate team members while maintaining strong client and customer relationships. The ideal candidate is results-driven, analytical, and experienced in managing collections operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of Collections Specialists to achieve departmental KPIs and collection goals.
- Monitor daily team performance, productivity, attendance, and adherence to schedules.
- Conduct regular coaching sessions, performance reviews, and development planning for team members.
- Manage escalated collection concerns and assist with complex account resolutions.
- Review aging reports, account trends, and collection metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable collection regulations.
- Prepare and present performance reports to management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Operations, Customer Service, and other departments to resolve account issues efficiently.
- Assist in implementing process improvements and best practices to enhance collection performance.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing development initiatives for the collections team.
Job Qualifications
Required Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Collections, Accounts Receivable, or Credit Management.
- At least 1-2 years of leadership or supervisory experience managing collections teams.
- Strong understanding of collections processes, dispute resolution, payment negotiations, and account reconciliation.
- Experience managing performance metrics, service levels, and collection targets.
- Proven ability to coach and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with advanced reporting skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, CRM platforms, and collections management systems.
- Experience supporting U.S.-based clients or customers is highly preferred.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment and accommodate a split-shift schedule based on business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in automotive, retail financing, franchise, or consumer collections environments.
- Familiarity with FDCPA compliance and collections best practices.
- Experience handling multi-site or remote teams.
- Background in workforce planning, KPI management, and operational reporting.
