Job summary

ETIQA Philippines seeks a systems developer with COBOL 400 experience to support legacy applications. A Bachelors in CS/IT or related field and at least 1 year of COBOL experience are required, along with strong analytical and communication skills.

You will design, implement, and maintain systems, prepare documentation, and assist in system proposals. Based in the Philippines, this role offers a structured IT department environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in CS/IT or equivalent is required.
• COBOL 400 experience is required; AS/400 knowledge is an advantage.
• At least 1 year of COBOL usage and strong analytical and planning skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain systems and program specifications.
• Coordinate with users on system design and input/output layouts.
• Prepare technical documentation and assist in hardware/software requirements.

Qualifications & experience

• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, Engineering (computer/Telecommunication), Science & Technology or equivalent.
• Required Skills(s): COBOL 400, knowledge of AS/400 is an advantage
• Experience: at least 1 year experience in the use of COBOL
• Strong analytical and planning skills
• Good communication and presentation skills

Tasks & responsibilities

• Systems Development Prepare systems and program specifications
• Coordinate with the users the design of the system/program
• Prepare proposed layout of input/output requirements
• Code/Develop new programs and maintains/enhances existing ones Conduct user training and assist users during the User Acceptance Test Prepare Technical Documentation Assist in the preparation of the hardware and software requirements
• Assist in the preparation of the implementation plan (including conversion plans) Assist in the conceptualization of the proposed system, identifying areas to be mechanized and areas to be maintained manually
• Assist in the presentation of the system proposal to user managers and higher management for confirmation
• System Maintenance Ensure the programs are upgraded according to specified needs of users Provide support to users for systems as assigned by superior Production Support Monitor daily, monthly, and annual batch runs and resolve issues, when required
• Management Reporting Prepare and submit timesheet, resource allocation reports and other reports in a timely manner as required by IT Department Head and/or Regional office.
