Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Cobol Developer (IMS) role based in Metro Cebu. The Cobol Developer will design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL applications on mainframe systems, including IMS databases and transaction processing environments. Daily activities include analyzing business and technical requirements, performing systems analysis, coding and debugging programs, and executing unit and integration testing. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, preparing technical documentation, and supporting production systems through incident resolution and performance optimization. The developer will follow established development standards and participate in code reviews to ensure quality, reliability, and compliance with organizational guidelines.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills with experience in COBOL, IMS, and related mainframe technologies.
• Solid background in systems analysis, including requirements interpretation and technical solution design.
• Proven software development experience, covering the full development lifecycle from design to deployment and support.
• Excellent analytical skills to troubleshoot complex issues, optimize performance, and improve system reliability.
• Familiarity with mainframe tools, utilities, and job control languages (e.g., JCL) is highly beneficial.
• Experience working in structured SDLC or Agile environments and using version control tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse, on-site team environment.
