Job summary

Passepartout Phils., Inc. in MEPZ II, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, Philippines, seeks a CNC Operator to program and operate CNC and laser cutting machines for wood, acrylic, metal, and other natural materials.

To successfully push forward in this challenging business, we are looking for a competent CNC Operator to strengthen our Production Department.

Job Description

• Equipment Operation and Material Handling:
• Program, set up, and operate CNC and laser cutting machines for various materials (e.g., wood, acrylic, metal, foam, seashells, seeds, and other natural materials).
• Load and set up approved CAM programs in the CNC machine, selecting appropriate tooling, materials, and machine settings.
• Perform initial simulations on test materials to confirm program accuracy and make necessary adjustments.
• Execute assigned work such as shaping, grooving, drilling, and milling.
• Oversee the machines and parameters while running, adjusting as necessary to improve machine output, product quality, and reduce waste and rejects.
• Plan and perform test-runs to determine optimal machine parameters, including time studies for volume estimation.
• Monitor material usage to minimize waste and ensure efficiency.
• Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
• Conduct routine preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC and laser machines to ensure full and safe operational status. This includes keeping the logbook updated.
• Identify and resolve mechanical or technical issues promptly.
• Manage spare parts and tools inventory, ensuring worn-out materials are replaced and warehouse stock is sufficient.
• Monitor and safekeep CNC drill bits and other essential materials.
• Blueprint and Manufacturing Instructions Interpretation:
• Read and interpret blueprints, CAD designs, and technical drawings to execute accurate cuts and engravings.
• Request CAD format files and verify their correctness against approved drawings.
• Verify dimensions and specifications to match project requirements according to manufacturing instructions.
• Collaborate with the process unit leader and the production operation manager to understand machining requirements, needed tools and deadlines.
• Communicate potential issues to ensure smooth production.
• Quality Assurance:
• Ensure all work meets company and client quality standards as defined in the manufacturing instructions.
• Conduct regular inspections during machining and perform quality checks on finished parts to ensure conformity to specifications.
• Validate programmed settings with the process unit leaders and the production operation manager, ensuring all production parameters and requirements are met.
• Record any production issues in the Production Issue Log (F-851-007) and report deviations immediately to your superior.
• Work alongside the quality control inspector during initial runs to establish and maintain quality standards throughout the machining process.
• Follow the quality checking procedure outlined in Carcass Process Description and the manufacturing instructions.
• Collaborate with the drawing document controller to ensure files are properly maintained and shared.
• Work closely with engineers, process unit leaders, and production
• operation managers to achieve project goals.
• Ensure that the allocated material and labor hour budget in the
• manufacturing instructions are strictly followed.
• Fill in actual data in the manufacturing instructions in the production box.
• Report deviations from the standard and contribute to resolution and clean documentation.
• Provide input and suggestions for process improvements.
• Report timely and directly to the immediate head for any concerns, clarifications as well as tools and equipment breakdown.
• Environment and Safety Compliance:
• Follow all company and industry environmental protection and safety guidelines and protocols, including proper handling of materials and chemicals as well as wearing prescribed PPE.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent accidents and contamination.

Requirements

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360).
• Knowledge of G-code programming and CNC machining processes.
• Experience with laser cutting machines and engraving techniques.
• Strong understanding of machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork.
• Working knowledge in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 is beneficial.
