Job summary

SolutionCX is seeking a CNC Programmer who will interpret CAD drawings, develop CNC programs, and optimize toolpaths for countertop production. You will work with AutoCAD and AlphaCAM, and adapt to Raptor and Slabsmith as needed to maximize material yield and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in CAD/CAM environments, strong GD&T skills, and working knowledge of CNC tooling and programming processes. Onsite during training with a transition to hybrid once production is confirmed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with AutoCAD and AlphaCAM (required).
• Ability to learn Raptor and Slabsmith quickly.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
• Working knowledge of CNC equipment, tooling, and programming processes.
• Experience with Moraware is an asset.
• Strong mathematical, logical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret CAD drawings and GD&T; select materials and profiles.
• Prepare CAD files for programming in AutoCAD with proper layers and references.
• Layout countertops on slabs using slab layout software for efficient material use and design.
• Develop CNC programs and instructions using CAD/CAM software.
• Determine cutting tools, speeds, and toolpaths for required designs.
• Organize shop paperwork, files, and labels.
• Check programming accuracy via simulations or testing.
• Collaborate with outsourced programming services for smooth processes.
• Collaborate with Sales/Design teams to troubleshoot issues with diplomacy and respect.
• Collaborate with Shop Supervisors and Operators to review programming issues and improve efficiency.
• Prioritize tasks to meet timelines; work under pressure to expedite tasks.

Responsible to work with CAD/CAM software to interpret and develop technical drawings for countertop manufacturing. Creates appropriate CNC programs and instructions which maximize material yield and manufacturing efficiency. Strong material, machine and tooling knowledge is required to apply correct types of tooling and toolpath strategies for successful machining.

KeyResponsibilities

• Interpret CAD drawings and specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), material and profile selections
• Prepares CAD file for further programming with efficient use of AutoCAD software, including line type and layer management, offsets and reference points
• Prepares geometric layout of countertops on available slabs and remnants using slab layout software for efficiency material use and pleasing design
• Develops programs and instructions for CNC equipment, utilizing appropriate CAD/CAM software
• Determines correct cutting tools and speeds, and applies appropriate toolpath sequences for required design
• Prepares and organizes shop paperwork files, including electronic files and printed paperwork and labels
• Checks programming for accuracy and efficiency, using simulations or testing where necessary
• Collaborates with outsourced programming services to ensure smooth processes
• Collaborates with sales/design teams to troubleshoot issues and provide solutions with diplomacy and respect
• Collaborates with Shop Supervisors and Operators to review/resolve programming issues, and improve process efficiencies

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience with AutoCAD and AlphaCAM (required)
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software platforms, including Raptor (template software) and Slabsmith
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and detailed instructions
• Working knowledge of CNC equipment, tooling, and programming processes
• Experience with Moraware and Slabsmith is an asset
• Strong mathematical, logical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
• Proficient computer skills, including experience with various software systems and communication tools (Email, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
• Good English communication skills (verbal, written, and reading comprehension)
