Ayala Land Hospitality seeks a Cluster Director of Engineering to guide engineering, facilities, and infrastructure across El Nido Resorts in Palawan. The role focuses on safety, reliability, sustainability, and long-term asset value for remote island properties.

You will steer CAPEX priorities, asset-management strategies, and engineering KPIs while collaborating with GMs, operations, finance, and sustainability teams to align technical decisions with business goals.

Qualifications

• Licensed Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with PME/PEE preferred.
• 2+ decades of experience in engineering leadership in hospitality.

Job description

The Cluster Director of Engineering provides strategic leadership and technical direction for engineering, facilities, utilities, and infrastructure operations across the El Nido Resorts portfolio in Palawan, including its remote island properties.

The role is responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, resilience, efficiency, sustainability, and long-term value of resort assets and critical infrastructure. This includes power generation and distribution, HVAC and MEP systems, water production and desalination, wastewater and sewage treatment, resort utilities, and other essential infrastructure supporting remote island operations.

The Cluster Director establishes and drives engineering standards, asset management strategies, maintenance and reliability programs, CAPEX priorities, engineering KPIs, and technical best practices across the cluster.

The position works closely with General Managers, Resort Managers, Operations, Finance, Sustainability, Procurement, Projects, and other stakeholders to translate engineering requirements into business, operational, financial, guest experience, and sustainability priorities.

A key focus of the role is ensuring infrastructure resilience and business continuity in the unique El Nido environment, while advancing energy efficiency, water security, resource conservation, asset lifecycle management, and continuous improvement.

The role also provides leadership, coaching, and development to Resort Engineers and engineering teams, building a strong and high-performing engineering organization across the cluster.

Key Qualifications

• Licensed Mechanical Engineer or Licensed Electrical Engineer. PME and PEE licensed holder is an advantage.
• Minimum 12 years of progressive engineering and facilities management experience, including significant experience in a senior engineering leadership role.
• Strong experience in luxury hotels, resorts, integrated hospitality developments, or similarly complex facilities.
• Proven experience managing multiple properties, geographically dispersed operations, or cluster engineering teams is highly preferred.
• Experience in remote island, resort, marine, or environmentally sensitive operating environments is an advantage.
• Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems, HVAC, power generation and distribution, water systems, desalination, wastewater/STP, fire and life safety, and critical resort infrastructure.
• Proven experience in CAPEX planning, asset management, preventive and corrective maintenance, reliability improvement, major repairs, renovations, and infrastructure development.
• Strong understanding of energy management, utilities optimization, water conservation, sustainability, and environmental resource management.
• Demonstrated experience in engineering budget management, cost control, procurement, contractors, and service providers.
• Strong knowledge of applicable engineering, building, fire safety, occupational health and safety, and environmental regulations.
• Experience with CMMS, CAFM, BMS, or other digital engineering and asset-management systems is preferred.
• Strong understanding of asset lifecycle planning, criticality, reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle cost optimization.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop engineering leaders and high-performing technical teams.
• Excellent strategic planning, problem-solving, decision-making, project management, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Strong business acumen, with the ability to connect engineering decisions with operational performance, financial outcomes, guest experience, and asset value.
• Dynamic, proactive, hands-on, and results-oriented leader who can manage competing priorities across multiple properties.
• Strong commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship, resilience, and protection of El Nido Resorts' natural and built assets.
• Willingness to be based in El Nido, Palawan, travel frequently between remote island properties, and respond to critical operational requirements when necessary.
