Qualifications

  • Must hold a professional engineering license: Mechanical or Electrical.
  • Eight or more years in progressive engineering and facilities management, preferably in hospitality.
  • Experience maintaining critical resort infrastructure (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, water systems, energy management).
  • Experience leading projects, preventive maintenance programs, and contractor teams.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, regulations, and sustainability practices.
  • Proficiency with engineering or maintenance management systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee engineering operations and facilities management for the resort.
  • Lead preventive and corrective maintenance of M&E systems.
  • Manage utilities and energy efficiency programs.
  • Ensure asset reliability and lifecycle management of equipment.
  • Plan and implement engineering projects.
  • Develop and mentor engineering staff; lead teams.

Job description

The Resort Engineer is responsible for the overall management, operation, and maintenance of the resort's engineering facilities, systems, and equipment, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance, utilities management, engineering projects, and technical services in alignment with El Nido Resorts operational standards, sustainability commitments, and strategic goals.

Responsibilities include:

  • Engineering operations and facilities management
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Utilities and energy management
  • Equipment reliability and asset management
  • Engineering project planning and implementation
  • Team leadership and staff development
  • Health, safety, and regulatory compliance
  • Environmental sustainability and resource conservation
  • Budgeting, cost control, and financial management
  • Procurement, inventory, and contractor management
  • Emergency preparedness and risk management
  • Coordination with other resort departments
  • Continuous improvement and implementation of brand standards

Job Qualifications:

  • Must be a Licensed Mechanical Engineer or Licensed Electrical Engineer.
  • At least eight (8) years of progressive engineering and facilities management experience, preferably in an international hotel, resort, or similar hospitality environment.
  • Proven experience in managing and maintaining mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, power generation, water treatment, desalination and other critical building and resort infrastructure systems.
  • Experience in managing engineering projects, preventive maintenance programs, contractors, and technical teams.
  • Knowledgeable in applicable safety standards, building regulations, environmental requirements, and engineering best practices.
  • Strong understanding of energy conservation, utilities management, and sustainable resort operations is an advantage.
  • Computer-literate and proficient in using Microsoft Office and relevant engineering or maintenance management systems.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team; dynamic, engaging, proactive, and able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A team player with strong problem-solving, planning, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to work in a remote island resort environment and respond to operational emergencies when necessary.
