Job summary

Staff X is seeking a remote design engineer to autonomously complete residential stormwater drainage projects from a live job register. You will produce drainage plans and hydraulic calculations to a high standard, meeting tight timeframes and requiring minimal rework.

You will use AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Excel, communicating via Microsoft Teams with a distributed team across time zones. This is a long-term, full-time role with Staff X’s global client exposure.

THE ROLE

You will work through a live job register completing stormwater drainage designs for South Australian residential developments — single dwellings, duplexes, and small multi-dwelling projects. Day to day, that means producing drainage plans and hydraulic calculations to a standard that requires minimal rework, maintaining a productive output across varying job complexity, and communicating clearly with the team throughout the day. This is not a support role. You will be expected to carry your own workload and deliver accurate, complete designs within defined timeframes.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Work from the job register to independently complete allocated residential stormwater design jobs across single dwellings, duplexes, and small multi-dwelling developments.
• Produce stormwater drainage plans and calculations to a standard that requires minimal revision from the reviewing engineer, targeting efficiency benchmarks once fully productive.
• Maintain a consistent daily output across varying job complexity levels, balancing single-dwelling and multi-dwelling work throughout each day.
• Submit completed designs for review, incorporate markup feedback accurately, and finalise drawings for client submission.
• Apply South Australian council requirements and relevant Australian Standards to ensure every design meets local regulatory expectations.
• Communicate proactively with the team via Microsoft Teams throughout the working day, flagging blockers early and responding promptly during work hours.
• Progress, as your competence is demonstrated, toward independently checking work produced by other engineers and submitting finalised plans directly to clients without additional review.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D with a minimum of two to three years of hands‑on experience producing engineering drawings.
• Demonstrated experience in Australian residential stormwater design, with specific knowledge of South Australian council requirements and local drainage standards.
• Competency in Microsoft Excel for managing stormwater calculations and spreadsheet‑based workflows.
• The ability to work independently on residential stormwater jobs with minimal supervision, producing accurate and complete deliverables within defined timeframes.
• Strong English communication skills with the ability to respond promptly on Microsoft Teams and collaborate effectively with a geographically distributed team.
• A positive and receptive approach to feedback, design markups, and varied job types under tight turnaround expectations.

This is a full work‑from‑home role. You will work from your own home office.
