Staff X is seeking a Senior Architectural Draftsperson to deliver ArchiCAD drawings from schematic through construction documentation for commercial and multi-residential projects in Australia. You will own drawing output, coordinate with external consultants, and uphold strict file management standards.

With 5+ years in architectural drafting, you will work from home, maintain ArchiCAD templates, and participate in daily progress checks.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of experience as an architectural draftsperson or CAD technician in a professional architectural or construction environment.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in ArchiCAD with ArchiCAD 28 experience strongly preferred; ArchiCAD 29 readiness is a plus.
• Portfolio submission is mandatory; applications without one will not be considered.
• Clear written and spoken English communication skills suitable for daily check-ins and direct engagement with external consultants.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate, coordinated architectural drawings in ArchiCAD across all project phases (schematic to full construction documentation).

A senior ArchiCAD role where your documentation work lands directly into live construction packages for commercial and multi-residential projects in Australia. This is not a support role — you will own drawing output across full project phases, communicate directly with external consultants, and operate as a trusted technical contributor in a fast-moving architectural practice.

THE ROLE

This position sits at the core of a commercial and residential architecture firm's production capability, with the Architectural Draftsperson responsible for delivering coordinated drawing packages from schematic design through to full construction documentation. The scope spans floor plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and construction details — all produced in ArchiCAD to exacting file management and layer discipline standards. Your output feeds directly into consultant coordination, design review, and construction procurement, which means accuracy and buildability are non-negotiable from the first submission.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Produce accurate, coordinated architectural drawings in ArchiCAD across all project phases, from schematic design through to full construction documentation — including floor plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and construction details.
• Maintain clean, well-structured ArchiCAD files in strict accordance with established CAD and BIM standards, including correct layer usage, no unauthorised external objects, and consistent file organisation throughout every project.
• Attend a daily online check-in of approximately 15 to 20 minutes with the project lead to report progress, flag blockers, and align on immediate priorities.
• Communicate directly with external project consultants — including structural and hydraulic engineers — to distribute drawing packages, request reviews, and maintain coordination without relying on the project lead to relay information.
• Self-check all drawing output before submission, applying critical review for legibility, accuracy, and buildability to minimise red-markup returns.
• Batch non-urgent queries and present considered options to the project lead rather than interrupting with isolated questions throughout the day.
• Incorporate consultant feedback and design direction into updated drawing packages, maintaining version control and documentation discipline throughout.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in ArchiCAD as a current, active user — ArchiCAD 28 experience is strongly preferred, and ArchiCAD 29 readiness is a plus. Willingness to learn ArchiCAD from another platform is not an acceptable substitute.
• A minimum of five years of experience as an architectural draftsperson or CAD technician in a professional architectural or construction environment.
• Demonstrated experience producing architectural documentation across commercial and multi-residential project types, with childcare facility experience considered an advantage.
• Strong understanding of ArchiCAD file management discipline — correct layer structures, no unauthorised external objects, and respect for established template and library conventions.
• A portfolio of recent, relevant work demonstrating drawing quality, documentation depth, and project type experience — portfolio submission is mandatory and applications without one will not be considered.
• Clear written and spoken English communication skills sufficient for daily check-ins and direct engagement with external project consultants.
