The Chief Revenue and Patient Experience Officer is an innovative executive healthcare role that bridges two traditionally distinct domains: the financial health of the hospital and the human-centric quality of care. When patients have a seamless experience from booking to billing, loyalty increases, collections improve, and hospital margins grow.
To strategically align the organization’s financial operations with patient satisfaction initiatives. This executive oversees the end-to-end patient journey—from pre-admission scheduling and financial counseling to clinical care, billing, and post-discharge follow-up. The ultimate goal is to ensure that revenue capture is optimized while creating a compassionate, transparent, and frictionless experience for the patient.
Key responsibilities
Oversee pricing, billing, collections, coding, and payer relationships to maximize revenue capture and reduce claim denials
Design and implement a seamless, patient-centric culture across all touchpoints, ensuring consistent standards and clear communication from admissions to discharge
Create clear, empathetic financial communication strategies so patients understand their costs, insurance coverage, and payment options upfront
Track and analyze patient satisfaction metrics (like HCAHPS scores or Net Promoter Scores) alongside financial performance indicators (such as days in accounts receivable and collection rates)
Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, and operational leaders to ensure clinical excellence translates into both high patient satisfaction and efficient resource utilization
About you
Master's Degree, most often a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), or a related advanced degree
10+ years of progressive leadership experience within a hospital or large health system
Strong, demonstrable track record managing healthcare finance, revenue cycle operations, or patient advocacy programs at a senior level
Deep understanding of healthcare reimbursement models, including HMOs, government health insurance programs, private insurers, and self-pay dynamics
Ability to drive a culture of patient-first service across both clinical and administrative teams, utilizing high empathy and change management skills
Strong familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR), health informatics, data integration, and hospital billing systems
Ability to identify operational bottlenecks that cause patient frustration and implement leaner, more effective workflows
