Job summary

Northstar Shipping and Marine Services Inc. seeks an experienced Engine Room Chief/Marine Engineer to oversee the vessel's main engine, generators and auxiliary machinery.

You will supervise the Oiler and engine crew, perform inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to ensure reliability. You will maintain engine room logs, monitor inventories and respond quickly to breakdowns, while ensuring compliance with safety policies and maritime regulations.

Qualifications

• Oversee operation of engine, generators and machinery.
• Coordinate regular inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs.
• Supervise Oiler and engine crew and ensure duties are carried out accurately.
• Monitor fuels, lubricants, spare parts and engine supplies.
• Maintain accurate engine room logs and maintenance records.
• Ensure machinery is in good working condition before and during operations.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and maritime regulations.
• Coordinate with Captain and shore management on repairs and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor engine room inventories and supplies.
• Keep detailed engine room logs and maintenance records.
• Ensure readiness of all machinery before/during operations.
• Respond to machinery breakdowns and emergencies.
• Adhere to safety policies and maritime regulations.
• Communicate with Captain and shore management about technical issues.
• Maintain cleanliness and safe working conditions in the engine room.
• Carry out any other duties related to vessel operations as assigned.

• Keep accurate engine room logbooks, maintenance records, and reports.

• Ensure all machinery and equipment are in good working condition before and during vessel operations.

• Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns and other engine-related emergencies.

• Ensure compliance with company safety policies, maritime regulations, and vessel operating procedures.

• Coordinate with the Captain and shore management regarding repairs, maintenance, and other technical concerns.

• Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and safe working conditions in the engine room.

• Perform other duties related to vessel operations as may be assigned by management.
